2012 Silly cyclops behavior

I just noticed that when the daytime running lights are on that when you use a turn signal the light on the side of the turn signal goes out, and then comes back on when the signal is canceled.

While I get that this makes the turn signal light more obvious to other drivers, it looks pretty silly in my mind.

The only consolation is that many do it (Audi, Caddy) if not all.

A number of brands also do this with the main headlights on. Theory is the brightness of the headlight masks the turn indicator. Use brighter or better positioned turn indicator lamps, I say

Yes, I saw this for the first time on another car. I still say it looks silly.

Just as Canuk said, if the driving light is a problem, make the turn signal brighter rather than turning off the driving light.

I saw this on the new Chrysler 300 a few days ago, first time I saw this on any car and yes, it doesn't look weird but it did make the turn signal easier to see.

My Magnum did it too. It is normal although strange.

All newer Chrysler products do this and it is supposed to be "ruled in" as in required by all manufacturers in the near future therefor we will all look silly. Started with most high end cars like Mercedes and Audi and then finally trickles down to the lesser brands just like airbags, abs, radar cruise and a bunch of other stuff.
