2013 brakes How long do they last?

I was getting concerned that maybe my Genni's brakes do not have "chirpers" to let me know its time to change because I have 141,000 miles on original factory brakes ( I know because I bought it new ) When I pulled the wheel off and checked I still have 1/8 inch till chirpers hit. Has anyone else had this cind of life on their brackes?

My original brakes were replaced at 229,679 miles and still had some "use" left on my 2014 which I purchased new.

I would say for anything other than hard city stoplight-to-stoplight or HPDE driving that 150-200k is likely. The discs are relatively large for the vehicle torque and the ceramic factory pads and discs are unusually durable.

Never had to touch the brakes on any of my vehicles other than fluid changes. Highest mileage I had with the three cars was over 100k and they still had >5mm left.

TLDR: they last far longer than the "lifetime transmission fluid."

12/2015 - 53k miles - New front pads, resurfaced front rotors (Hyundai dealer)
05/2020 - 92k miles - 4 new pads, new rear rotors, resurfaced front rotors (Hyundai dealer)
05/2023 - 114k miles - 4 new pads and 4 new rotors (Hyundai dealer)
07/2025 - 136k miles - Brakes still feel good

Ouch, that sounds like my 2006 V6 Sonata with 255K miles when I traded it. Six sets of pads all the way around and new rotors once.

Yeah, that 5/2023 full replacement of pads and rotors really hurt. $1,500 at the dealer in Wilmington, NC. I was lucky enough to be on my way down to Myrtle Beach to visit mom. Back home, in Queens, NY I was getting quotes of $2,500 at the dealer with OEM parts and $2,200 at a local shop with aftermarket parts. Crazy.

I purchased a complete set of PowerStop brake pads and with four rotors and had mine done during a tire replacement, so it wasn't terrible.

I have a 12 model I recently purchased with only 32,000 miles and I am replacing the rotors and pads because when you get on the brakes hard at speed it just about vibrates the glass it shakes so bad. I have ordered slotted and drilled rotors, hopefully they’ll stay cooler and prevent this from recurring

32K miles is odd with a vibration with heavy braking. Maybe there is an issue from the previous ownership. I have purchased the standard rotors with the Power Stop brake pads. They are amazing, barely a touch and I am slowing down which makes it difficult driving my wife's SUV and my Boss's Range Rovers that aren't as good.

The car is from Florida, 2400 miles a year, I think it was a senior citizen doing the brake ride thing with their left foot

Is the steering wheel shimmying during braking? Could be the rotors are the same thickness. Maybe having them turned so they are true in size will help?

Shaking brakes can also be due to a bent wheel hub.

Here's a story for you...
Two months ago I did a complete front brake job on the spousal unit's 2007 Solara. Replaced with a $250 Powerstop Z23 kit. She had been complaining of high speed braking vibration for some time, and it had been vibrating for seemingly forever. Pads finally wore down to 2mm, so it was time. Picked up a cheap ($50 Amazon) dial gauge to check runout.

Original rotor runout at 0.005" Max factory spec is 0.002" Took off the rotor, cleaned up the hub, and put on the new rotor. Also 0.005". Took it back off and measured hub runout at 0.002". Radius difference to the outer rotor edge and basic geometry means all of the 0.005" is coming from the hub. OK so I think to myself: Why is the hub bent?

Just then I remembered that she had been t-boned a decade ago on that side, and this was almost certainly damage from that crash, as the wheel hub was not replaced back then. The new Powerstop pads and rotors don't vibrate as bad after a proper bedding. For now. But when she complains again I'll buy an axle nut socket and replace the wheel hub.
