  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I need everyones advice...

Have had my 2013 Genesis 3.8 Tech for just over a year and never/ever expierenced so many issues that I have with this vehicle.

Is this a lemon? Do you guys advise to trade it in? I hate losing money on vehicles.

My history

Purchased December 2014 w 35000miles....

April 2015 @ 45000miles-replaced transmission due to 2nd to 3rd gear slip (dealer estimated repair cost of almost $12000/warrantied)

May 2015 @ 48000miles - replaced trunk lock actuator, deep motor (dealer estimated repair at $400/warrantied)

June 2015 @ 49000miles - oil leak on driveway, dealer replaced oil pressure switch and gasket ( dealer estimated $800/warrantied)

September 2015 @52000miles - oil leak on driveway, dealer replace rear main engine seal - dealer estimated repair at $2100)

Last week December 2015 @56000 miles - noticed strong odor of fuel within the car, car then would not start, dealer now replacing a damaged leaking fuel injector, 3 week wait for the part ( dealer estimated cost at $1000)

This is all within 12 months of ownership not too mention all the time without the vehicle due to servic3.

This was 1 year old dealer demo vehicle, with all hyundai maintnance....i only use synthetic oil and premium gas. .

Is this the reliability i am to get from this Hyundai product?

Would you trade it in?

Not that uncommon with the 8sp. I suspect there was a manufacturing flaw at the factory. Had mine replaced the same way at about 25K. I've now got 65K+ on it, and the tranny has been rock solid, so far.

Personally, I would never buy a demo or lease vehicle because there is very little incentive to properly maintain or not abuse it. A demo vehicle with 35K miles has been put through the wringer (which may explain the trans issue).

The decision basically depends upon your dissatisfaction with the other issues. I probably would get rid of it but financially it wouldn't bother me. You might have a different situation. In my experience (2 Hyundai's with no issues and several other people also with good experiences) this car does seem like it was put together after an office party although it probably would not qualify as a legal lemon since the problems are different each time. Your call.

Just be glad you don't own a 2010 !!!!

What's wrong with the 2010? Mine has 70K, regular servicing, new Michelins, only oddities were the brake light switch and brake fluid recalls. Still on the original brakes and gets 28+ highway MPG from a strong V8 engine. Comfortable, flawless transportation. Cars can be like people...individual experiences. I'm guessing you've had those bad experiences, but I'm quite satisfied with my 2010.

35000 miles on a 13, and they call it a Demo? If it was a Demo (non-titled), you'd get the full 10 year/100,000 power train warranty (from when you bought it), and the 5 year/60,000 bumper to bumper, and the 3 year/36,000 electronic warranty.

PS. You put on 21,000 miles on one year??

Have a 2013 Premium, bought it new, have 30,000 miles on it.

Had two issues, one with the drivers power seat and the other the back-up camera. Both looked after under warranty.

Otherwise, the car has been excellent!

I have a 2013 Genesis 3.8. It is going on 2 years now and have 14,000 miles on it. Bought it new and so far has been excellent. No problems what so ever and get great mileage. Maybe you just got hold of a bad vehicle. Could have been the reason why it never sold before.
