  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey guys, I have a 2013 Genesis 3.8 it has about 56k and I'm the 2nd owner, for the past couple of months its been jerking on and off. Maybe between 1st-2nd or 2nd-3rd gear. Its a big jerk to the point where it seems like someone has hit you from behind. Im still covered under warranty, but I'm afraid the dealer won't find anything or they can't mimic whats happening. Every time i try to bring it to the dealer, the jerking goes away. I've tried searching and there are people who are also experiencing the same thing but not many solutions besides a tranny swap. But only if Hyundai even agrees with your story or if they have physically experienced it.

so my question is, is there anything i can do or tell the dealership. My warranty as the 2nd owner is almost up 60K as the 2nd owner

I recall having a jerking problem in 2013. Never felt like I was getting hit from behind though, thank god.

Hi. There was a long thread about the transmission issues concerning the 1st Generation Genesis. I was part of the thread. I have a 2012 3.8 V 6 Genesis. I was having the same problem and I was able to video the RPMs going up and down with the car jerking. But the Hyundai repair shop was able to duplicate the problem and I got a new transmission under warranty. Since my car was a CPO, I am covered for the 100,000 mile drive train.

Fer Gawdsakes, take it to the dealer and have it checked. At minimum, if they can't duplicate it, have them RESET the transmission to the factory specs. It's a quick 5 minute reset procedure. Had it done this week to my Santa Fe free under warranty, of course.
