  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello, my battery warning light just started lighting up. I installed a new battery about 3 months ago with no problems until yesterday. Engine started up just fine but then the Battery Discharge Warning chimed in and dash warning light is constant.
I have checked the battery terminals and connections and corresponding fuses in the trunk. The 200amp Alternator fuse in the engine compartment is good. Drive belt is in good condition and tensioned properly.
Is there a control module, fuse or fusable link that I have overlooked? Thank you!

Have you checked the voltage at your battery and alternator yet?

Classic telltale of a failing Alternator.

Needs an alternator most likely. Just replaced mine for same symptoms. (y)

Thanks. On that next.

Put a volt meter on the battery while idling. Should be about 13.5~13.8 or so. If you get 12v or less, it’s alternator replacement time.
