If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hello Genesis owners,

I bought a 2013 sedan recently and, as I have with my other cars, immediately ordered a set of WeatherTech floor liners. I have never seen this before from WeatherTech, but the driver's floor liner doesn't fit right.

There are 2 mounting posts for the floor mats, one near the door and one closer to the center of the seat. The one near the door snaps down fine, but the one near the center doesn't stay engaged. You can push it down and make it engage, but when you let go, it pops back off. The reason is because the floor board just off of the right front corner of the driver's seat has a swell in it, like a mesa. The floor liner doesn't account for it and because of the stiffness of the liner, it makes the liner "ramp up" as it gets close to the driver's seat, until at the end, it's maybe 1-2 inches up off of the carpet. That upward angle makes the liner resist staying mounted to the center post. I hope you can visualize that. I've attached a few pictures to illustrate.

Now the problem; I've contacted WeatherTech and they said that they have never had anyone with this issue. The liners they sell do not account for this problematic swell in the floorboard, they are flat. I have looked high and low and I cannot find a clear picture of the floorboard of a 2013 sedan. What I have seen doesn't have the swell present. It is not accident damage, it's perfectly molded, and I can't figure out what's going on. Does anyone out there have a floorboard like mine?

Picture info:
Mounting posts shows the middle mounting post disengaged
Swell shows the swelled area shaded in red
Illustration is a drawing of the issue
Good Liner Pic is an image that I got off the internet of a Honda Civic. It shows a very similar swell that is accounted for in the liner. That is what I need, but WeatherTech can't explain it or help me.

Any advice or information is MUCH appreciated. It's driving me up the wall! *crazy* :thankyouspin:

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Do you have a V6 or a V8 Genesis? I would visit some Hyundai dealers and see if they have any 2012-2014 used Genesis sedans for sale that you could look at. Don't tell them why you want to look.

Why not tell them? I'd even ask at the dealer I bought it from it it is a Hyundai dealer. Unless they have secret floor pans on some models they should be willing to show you.
I changed a water pump on a car with three belts. Was not sure how they went back so looked at some used car lots until I found one. They were very helpful.

If it's the not dealer were he bought the car, they may not want to find the keys and open the car to have him look at it.

I have the same hump in my floor 2013 3.8 but I only use carpets not Weathertech mats. I'd try a heat gun on your mat to try and get it to lay down.

I have a 13 and put my weather tech mats in for the winter. Mine fit perfectly. I put mine in on the first cold day and noticed that the my passenger one didn't want to snap in. I figured that it was stiff from the cold, so I put it in on the first 45 degree day. It snapped in fine then (and has been fine since then)

It is a V6. Loving it so far. The only thing that doesn't work is a driver's side seat heater, which is common apparently. ;)

Hi Bill. Do you have the hump I've described? if so, are your WeatherTechs flat or do they account for it?

Yes! Thank you! Now I know that WeatherTech has an incorrect design for our vehicles. I suspect that there are both flat and humped models in the 2013 3.8 and WeatherTech didn't know it. Heat gun is a good idea. Have anyone heard of somebody modifying their liners successfully with a heat gun?
