  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Welcome! Just letting you know that this topic has been moved out of the community lounge and into the Hyundai Equus forum. :)

Youll have to pull the headrest out of the seat itself, which means you have to take the plastic panel partly off the back of the seat to get to the release for the headrest. On the bottom of one of the legs of the headrest that goes into the seat, there are two holes with electrical pins in them. Youll need a 9volt battery and some wire. Put power to those contacts, and you should be able to take the F shaped metal bit that is inside the headrest and reset it. Once you get that reset, youll need to fold the headrest back in with quite a bit of force. Here is a video of how its done on a Genesis:

Hyundai Genesis/Equus Headrest Reset

The major difference is how the headrest is removed from the seat itself, otherwise its very similar. Also, if it deployed due to being pushed on or something, please keep in mind that it may just be broken, and may not reset. Both of my headrests were broken by my friends when they were screwing around in my back seat, and I had to gut them and glue them back together until I can afford to get new ones.

When they deploy there is a good chance that the plastic inside breaks and they cannot be reset. If you see little plastic pieces coming out of them you are screwed. I took mine apart and was able to figure out how to pull most of the guts out of them and get them back together. Wasn't fun but it can be done. If you want to try it PM me and I'll try and explain

That happened with mine, plastic retainer broke into pieces... Why you'd make a retainer plastic for a high tension metal spring... Seems like a planned, future money grab. Gutted mine since inoperable without that irreplaceable plastic and zip tied it back together.
