  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am not gonna lie this job was a little annoying at first. There are quite a few things that need to be removed or loosened up. The biggest issue was the books all point to using a 2210 belt. The stock belt is 2218. Full compressed the tensioner will not let the 2210 work. So I bought a longer belt that was 2225. It worked perfectly since the tensioner will extend that far. Our car has right at 70k on it. I did check the pulleys and they seemed to be fine.

I hope these pics helps someone out.

How do you know when this belt needs replaced in the car? I only ask in that my car is at 65K. Do I have to go to the dealership to have this work done? Thanks

Most newer belts are made from EPDM and last longer than the older belts. At 65k I'd inspect it for cracks and wear. It could go for a while but 60k to 100k miles is common.

Any decent shop can do the job.

This job isnt too bad - replacing the alternator is a real pain in the "rear"! I would suggest going to the dealer for that if you have this issue - it seems to be not that uncommon for these cars.
These vehicles are great but have their common part failure points (alternator and starter for sure!). Enjoy the car as they are worth it IMO

Thank you and I'm just getting the car back to square so I have a service record. The dealership just fixed the Electronic E Brake $$$ and Flushed and reset the Transmission and it's running like a champ. I will have my regular shop take a look at the belt.
