  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey, I'm back with another glitchy-thing... I recently had to have the windshield swapped in my '15 3.8. Safelite did the job, and everything seems to be in order for the most part (trim looks good, no wind noise, distance cruise is fine, wiper sensitivity might have changed a little) except that since the windshield swap, the day/night transition for the nav map seems to be almost completely busted.

Now, I'm kind of thinking I might be insane here, because the regular instrument dimming is fine. It's just that the map doesn't swap color schemes, even though the nav display itself drops to 'night' brightness and the IP changes, etc. Is this something that could conceivably have happened when the sensor package got recalibrated, or is it just me being a car hypochondriac and really this was happening before anyway? And, in either case, is there any way to fix it?

Right now I can 'bump' the map to switch to night mode by going into the setup and cycling the 'auto' day/night switch off and on again, but that seems like a bad long-term solution, and I don't want my car to start going down the 'beater' road. Any suggestions appreciated!

I have noticed (or at least I think I have) that the day/night coloring change on mine (2018) happens at a different time than when the brightness changes. I wonder (but don't know at all) if that change is based on time and location?

I assume that your auto headlights are also still working correctly?

Yeah, as far as I can tell. I normally keep them on during the day (having those orange DRLs on weirds me out) but when I switch to auto at night they're fine and the auto high beam is no problem.

I also noticed that day/night on the nav is different than on the IP, but usually it was fairly close, and I seem to recall it switching to 'night' mode when, say, I'd drive into the carport. But human memories are pretty bad; it might just have been switching the IP brightness. Anyone know the technical details here?

You may need those sensors recalibrated @ the dealer...

Mine can be wonky sometimes too - night mode when it's daylight, the dimness is correct but it's on the wrong theme. I usually pay it no attention as it usually changes correctly after the next restart and I keep it on the music app page anyway.
