  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

HELP!

CAR AUDIO WENT OUT ON MY
2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Ultimate 3.8

Recently me and my friends were listening to music on the way to my 21st birthday dinner and decided to turn a song up it went from about 35 up to 47-48. Played for a little bit then started going in and out. After that we didn’t hear nothing but the car driving on the road. After looking into it seeing that this is a common problem....(SMH).... I believe that the problem is the weak ass amplifier.

-Turned the car off and on - NOTHING
-Pressed the restart button on the radio- NOTHING
-Tried the reset trick(removed negative terminal from battery) - NOTHING
-Even checked to see if the fuse had blown -NOTHING
At this point I’m almost out of options and am completely pissed off. Considering a car at this level should not be happening if it’s the “upgraded 17 speaker lexicon system” this type of shit should be happening with a beater Car. Yet that beater is blasting music way harder than my car has. It’s just upsetting and aggravating.

I’ve looked into purchasing another factory amp but “out of warranty” most likely calls for a “out of range” budget. So my question is could I or has anyone been able to purchase an aftermarket amplifier for their genesis and if so which one did you get? And how is it holding ?

I think Hyundai's vision was you cruising along, quietly playing 5.1 surround classical DVD's in your korean luxury limo ;) But I agree it's disappointing the amp seemingly can't handle what the head unit can put out.

If you search up "hyundai lexicon repair service" on eBay, there's a few companies that provide repair service for $525, someone in a previous thread had a positive experience with that (2015 Blown Amplifier). Perhaps worth contacting the seller and getting their assurance on the longevity of the repair work, I'd assume it's a simple fix for them.

Used amps can be found cheaper if you're lucky but I'm not sure if that's just playing the amp lottery at that point... Aftermarket sounds like a headache with how integrated the head unit and amp are together digitally, but I'd be happy to be wrong about that.

I replied to you on Facebook in the genesis buy trade group, you can find the repair service on eBay with a link I posted there as well as a thread linking to here with others with the same issue. I will find the thread with how to remove the amp from the trunk. Since you are a member here you will get better answers to info like this here than on Facebook more than often.
