  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The lever to open the glove box did not open the glove box. Removing the lock I discovered the pin that moves the lever sideways was broken. It fits onto the lock itself with a U clip so can be replaced but I need a part number. Does anybody know where I can find it? The OEM parts sites online only have new locks and keys.

I just had my glovebox replaced, had the same problem, luckily my extended warranty covered it, I was told by the dealer the glovebox had to be replaced as Hyundai does not sell individual parts for it. You should be able to find one for a reasonable price online. 84510-B1000-SG2 - Glove Box Door - 2015-2020 Hyundai | World OEM Parts Hyundai

Yep, mine has the same issue, but it requires the entire door to be replaced. I broke off the latch on one side so I can still finagle the remaining one open. I count it as an "enhanced security" glovebox since nobody can open it.

I have the same problem on my 2015 3.8- best car I have ever owned, better than my MB C230 (100 more horse power and 5 MPG better).

Right after the last full service, I found the GB door cylinder on the floor - door locked tight. I called the dealer to report the problem- no answer, a few weeks went by, called again- no answer to the promised call back. I called again and finally after some insistence, the woman who answers the phone went back to the Service Department, she came back with my new Service advisor's name. "He will call you back within the hour." No call back. A day goes by and I call again. Finally I set up an appointment and was told it will take 2 hours and $295 to sort out the issue. Long story short - I was now past date on my extended warranty and renewing the old CARMAX one will be $5,300 for 48,000 miles. The deductible $500. My old warrantee was $1,100 and $25 deductible from CARMAX.

I have just ordered a new Glove Box door from eBay at $165. I expect I will need to cut the original door to open it. Any Ideas?

It's pretty easy to pry the old door out. It's not like you need to save the latches. Just stick a pry bay in the right side and pop it open.

Thanks, I will try that tomorrow.

My replacement door arrives on the 9th of October. I will open my door, with your suggestion.

Well, good new, my Used replacement glove box door assy arrived yesterday on the 9th of October. I used a pry bar (as suggested) to pop off the door face, so as to protect the hinges. Then you have access to the latching mechanism and can easily unlock the door.

If anyone else is doing this, remember to pull loose the soft-open mechanism off the plastic mounting pin on the right side of the bin. This allows you to completely open, after twisting the L and R compartment guides out. Then a few screws and twist in L/R guides. You are done.

BTW I saved about $800 in parts and labor, if changing the whole box assy at the dealer.
