So I bought the car about two months ago and have two track days and five passes at the drag strip under my belt. Anyway my best friend has an Evo 4 and a 1998 Eclipse GSX. The Eclipse makes just shy of 400 whp and runs high 11's on a good night. It destroys me from a roll (as one would expect haha). The thing that bothers me is his Evo 4 on a stock tune will beat me solidly from a roll, and kill me from a dig. He told me when he puts it to "stock" he is running an Evo 6 RS tune. The tune he uses at the track makes 327 awhp. I cant keep up with his Evo around a track, from a roll, from a dig, in any situation on the "stock" tune and theres no contest when it's turned up. He isn't the type to lie and I've known him since we were kids. I'm coming from a 300awhp Audi TT and it would out do his Evo on the stock setup. When I drag raced his Evo at our local drag strip I ran a 14.2 (I was still learning the car, think I could hit 13's now) and he ran a 13.4. His car is advertised as 276bhp and it weighs like 2900 pounds curb.
Anyway what mods am I looking at to outdo the Evo? I have no intentions of building a car that can outrun his Eclipse. I find the weak points in the Gen is exiting the corners. Really love it on entry but the car is very unstable on the exit. I need to cut just over ten seconds off my time to match his worst time. Am I going to need to go forced induction? What can I do to bring the suspension in a little more? This is my first rwd car and so far the build process is very different. Appreciate any and all advice. Thanks guys.
