  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi All,

I have not been able to find out the answer to this on the web, so I bring it to you: what is the deal with the two different types of seat-back pockets that I see in the pictures? Some look like a leather(ish) pocket and others look like a more hard, solid-form pocket.

Which trim for 2015 has which type of pocket? I am looking to buy a used 2015 and so far my visual guidance cues have been the following:

- matte trim? --> Ultimate (3)
- rotating media control --> Ultimate (3)
- HUD ---> Ultimate (3)
- leader lines in backup cam? ---> tech package (2)
- Michelin tires ---> factory recall taken care of
- hankook tires ---> factory recall not taken care of
- sunroof ---> at least signature (1)

Actually, that's mostly it. But I can't figure out the seat back pockets.. I've seen them on Ultimate and non-ultimates, so something in the listings must be wrong. If you guys could help me figure this out it'd be great and help me find the right car. I'm hoping for an Ultimate 3.8.

I'm hoping that when the 2017 G80 is in the dealerships I'll see more trade-ins and CPOs and hopefully better deals on 2015s. ANy thoughts on that? I believe the G80 is launching this month (September) right?

Cars with the standard leather seats have the "leatherette" pockets.
Cars with the premium seats have the hard back pockets.

Which is better may depend on what you will put in them. In my case, I have the standard seats, and the more flexible pocket(s) will fit my travel umbrella so that I can just reach behind the front row, and grab it by the handle.

One other comment: All backup cameras have guidelines. Signature and above are moving guidelines. Base cars have static guidelines. I am basing this on the loaner (base pkg) that I had.

Thank you for answering. This is confusing, though, as the lists indicated that the Tech package gets the premium leather seats and the rear camera parking lines. How are the photos for the cars at carmax/dealerships showing two conflicting packages? =/

Zees - I have a 2015 Brochure that explains in pretty good detail the specs for each package. It does not specifically mention the seat back pockets.

2015-16 Genesis with Tech and Ultimate will have the upgraded seats. You can tell because they have contrasting piping, and the extender on the driver seat.

The parking guideline specs are confusing. One would get the impression that Base cars have no guidelines. They do, but they are not moving guidelines. Signature and above have the guideline that "tilt" left or right with the steering wheel. They also exhibit a slight curve at the limits.

In the 2015 brochure, parking guidelines are listed at Signature Package (and above).

So... the corrected should be:
(Moving) leader lines in backup cam? ---> Signature package (1)

On my ultimate I hang my travel umbrella on the umbrella/aux "hook" on each "B" pillar.

Doesn't that bang around when you stop or accelerate?
