  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
No Genesis Yet!
Hi, I'm in the market for luxury sedans and I love idea and price of genesis, earlier studied everything about ls430, after finding about genesis and some basic research I decided it might be even better option as reliable cruiser, no air suspension!
But then I found about disaster with genesis transmission...
Anyone have experience with them both ls430 and genesis to really compare driving experience?
What are your thoughts in general about genesis as owners, would you buy it again?
The transmission issue is something that will happen 100% just matter of time or is it just some cars?
Reliability is my main concern but Id love to have 10years younger car than ls430 for almost dame money with modern tech.

Disaster? Not sure what you have seen, I haven't.
Would I buy another? Sure, I'm on my 6th Hyundai/Genesis car and never had a transmission issue. Fact is, I've had overall many less issues than other brands, that is why I keep buying them.

My 2015 has not had any transmission issues in 75,000 miles. My 2016 has had no transmission issues in 52,000 miles.

The transmission issues were on early 2012 models. That got addressed and honestly the Genesis 8 speeds are relatively bullet proof.

I’m sure the LS430 would ride better with air suspension, and maybe have a little more space, but if you’re buying the car for mainly you then maybe get the Genesis.

Is that so? Because this thread says different story. It's exactly the Hyundai's 8speed from 2015my.
But noone mentions how common that issue is,
And that's important factor.
I also started researching infinity m37 also seems like direct competitor to genesis, very nice tech for it's age and good reliability.

That is a TSB for hard shifting for the 15. The 2012 8 speeds had complete failure. Have had my 15 for 20,000 miles now has 66,000 miles and transmission shifts very smooth.
