  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I love my 2016 Equus. I bought it in 2018 with 16,000 miles. I have noticed the air conditioning to be less cool at idle - stop lights, compare to cruising over 20 mph. This summer was brutally hot, so it was more noticeable.

It there a fix/hack for this? I assume this is typical and not abnormal. Hyundai dealer said " nothing wrong." So did a local shop. TIA

At idle, compressor is not putting out like a higher RPM. What you feel it should be does not count. Actual temperature does. Put a thermometer in the center vent and take readings of the temperature drop. It should be at least 30 degrees cooler than outside air.

My 2014 Equus does this as well. Will blow between 37 - 45 Degrees while driving down the free way, but if I stop at a red light or in a parking lot, it jumps up to about 60 - 65. This is on triple digit days in the PNW though.

If your refrigerant level is correct, then the control valve at the back of the compressor should be your next suspect.

Lots of people never think about the condensor being filled with dead bugs Got the Radiator Genie off of Amazon and you can't believe the difference it has made for the cooling temps at stoplights. Been fighting high temps all summer and it finally dawned on my to clean the coils. Works great now and really cold again. The other issue could be your fan relay not functioning really well and the fan not operating like it should. Check them on the passenger side of your engine compartment and see if they are warm to the touch. If they are then replace them
