  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2016 Genesis Sedan Oil Pressure Sensor

PCM = Power train Control Module = ECM = Electronic Control Module = Engine Control Module = ECU = Electronic Control Unit = Engine Control Unit = ...
The service manual says the PCM reads the oil pressure sensor and other inputs to decide to turn the low/high pressure oil pump valve on or off.

Thank you for clarifying. The tech offered a poor explanation. It would seem logical replacing the sensor should fix the issue. Do you have any perspective on if replacing the oil pressure sensor addresses the issue of my oil light activating? The dealer said they recently had another Genesis and the sensor replacement did not solve the problem, so they also replaced the oil pump. I’ve heard oil can contaminate the wiring harness which could complicate the issue. My cars oil light turns off when I rev above 2000rpm.

It was the oil pressure “switch” according to my drealership. Changing it involved replacing the oil pressure switch and the intake manifold gasket for $1229 but my extended warranty partially covered it. Never saw the red oil light again. Used to see it intermittently while driving and it would sometimes disappear under heavy throttle and reappear at idle especially.

interested in why this was only partially covered?

Extended warranty companies typically only pay up to a certain amount on a job and a certain amount per hour. Typically it isn’t enough to cover what a dealership charges as hourly labor rate, or the actual job on your vehicle may call for more labor than the extended warranty is willing to pay for.

Such is the unfortunate reality. Many independent shops with a cheaper labor rate don’t deal with extended warranty companies because they ask for a lot of information during the repair and are stingy with paying out, like any insurance company is.

Hi all,

I wanted to share this for people who have the same issue.

There was a formal recall by Hyundai in South Korea for this issue a few years ago. The recall was completely free on Hyundai.

Since I heard about the recall in Korea, I've started doing my research, and ended up filling a complaint on NHTSA last year.
Here is what I found:

There is an ongoing law suit by the Kalfayan law firm.

Thier phone number:

There's nothing for them to "look in to." They are very well aware of the problem and solution.
