  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Thank you, I seen a video earlier today where the gentleman replaced the folding gear himself. There was a lot involved with it and time. It had a plastic one, he replaced
it with a metal one.

This is common and an easy fix. The oem plastic drive gear is broken. The replacement part is metal. Search ebay for the gear, remove mirror, replace gear, etc. I have done this. Use a clean workbench.

Nice, thank you for the advice. It's a beautiful car to own.

Likely a stripped gear inside the mirror housing. The click is the motor trying but failing to move the mechanism. The plastic gears wear out. You'll probably need to replace the entire mirror assembly.

That video is excellent. The video might be longer than the repair. Don't start the job until you possess the new gear. Complete the job in one uninterrupted session. My plastic window trim was not cooperative, but a plastic trim clip removal tool and perseverance allowed me to avoid cracking the plastic trim. I did not need power tools. My mirror gear set had enough grease that there was plenty to share with the new gear.
