  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey guys, I’m new to genesis ownership and I have noticed that when the car is warmed up and has been driven for a while the transmission seems to shudder when it shifts between 20mph and about 35mph. It only does it when I’m driving lightly. If I give it gas between those speeds it doesn’t seem to do it as bad. I was wondering if it could be a driveshaft bearing or maybe a bad trans mount? It’s also worth mentioning that it has over 100k miles now.

My Genesis transmission does not shudder when shifting, however my Genesis only have a little over 60k miles on it.

Hopefully, you may only need to drain the old transmission fluid and fill it will fresh fluid to cure your poor shifting issues since you may have over 100k miles on the original transmission fluid. Old transmission fluid breaks down over time and allows the automatic transmission to slip/shudder when changing gears.

I'd say that it was due for an Oil & filter change - You'll have a get a new pan assembly as that contains the filter.

Do NOT get it flushed. Drain & refill only.

Ok thanks! Would that be something that I could diy or should I just bite the bullet and take it to the dealer? My closest genesis dealer is an hour and a half away.

I'm not sure if it's something I'd do personally, as I don't have a lift & etc., but you can order the pan/filter assembly from hyundaipartsdeal.com and take it to your trusted mechanic for them to do the job - it's pretty straightforward.

The part is $140-160 depending on your engine size.
