This has been a journey between two different dealers with R1 Concepts and Everett Genesis of Washington to the rescue.
Purchased a lease return 2018 Genesis G80 Sport AWD 3.3T Black with copper trim.
Noticed this car on the show room floor in 2018, thankfully eneded up purchasing a little less than 2 years afterwards.
One item a lot of owners have exsperianced is the brakes needing maintenance at an early stage, mine at 21,000 miles.
Enquired with Skagit Genesis here in Washington State, place of purchase, of the poor braking quality. Noticing the already service of brakes under warranty of my car, I asked the service manager, can I purchase aftermarket rotors and pads and have you, the dealer, install rather than resurface with new pads once again? They said (he, service manger) it.will void your warranty, even if you pay us to accomplish the installation with aftermarket R1 Concept furnished parts.
I decided to do the work myself!
I purchased R1 Concepts rotors and pads, one of the few aftermarket manufacturers that do, they.arrived promptly.
Excited, I purchased the required OEM brake fluid, put all parts on the garage bench, 5 months passed with out me having the time to do the job.
The recal for brake module came into play, called Skagit Genesis asked them about the recal, they said no parts available, called twice more .. none, let you know when they come in.
Becoming anxious of my brakes bothering daily, I called Everett Genesis, Marshall answered the phone. He informed me they had the parts.for recall on brake model for some time and so has the "other local dealers" since he had vision of the parts bin's.
I asked Marshall about the brake installation, response was $200 per axle, the brake recal is on Genesis.
We booked the time and date, July 23 at 10:00. I drove into a "side by side service bay", immediately greeted by Marshall. Hey John, how are doing?
I picked up my G80 at 1:15 that day, spotless and with new, amazing brakes!
In retrospect, Genesis cuts corners in some places, this generation of G80 is brakes. The car is soooo very nice, Iam not bothered by upgrading to an aftermarket like R1 Concepts, Love these brakes!!
What I do not like, is poor performing dealers, with poor service department.
Everett Genesis came through for me! Thank you Marshall (service manager) and Bruce (the tech)!
Pictures are attached of brakes with order invoice.
Love this car!
