  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My 2019 G70 is blowing hot air on the drivers side and cold air on the passenger side. The dealership says I have a freon leak and the evaporator needs to be replaced. I cannot get anyone to explain to me why the passenger side vents would be blowing cold air while the drivers side vents would not. It doesn't seem to be a blower issue as air comes out of the vents....just a huge difference in the temps on the drivers side vs. the passenger side. Oh and the evaporator is 250 but the labor is 1,500!!!!!!!!!!!

My 2022 GV70 has the exact same symptom. They told me that the compressor is punctured and it was likely caused by road debris -- so not covered by warranty. The quote was about $1400 and now I am waiting for the replacement part to be delivered. How does "road debris" get into the engine compartment of an SUV, puncture a compressor, and not do other damage? This seems pretty fishy to me!

@cvidrine73 - with a 2019, are you still in the 5/60 bumper to bumper warranty? Contact Genesis Corporate and see if they are able/willing to goodwill the repair

@G-639850 - Consider filing a comprehensive insurance claim to offset the cost. See if the insurance adjuster refutes the dealer's claim if road damage - which would then help make it covered by warranty. (also contact Genesis corporate).

Are you sure that they said "compressor?" I'd bet that it was the condenser, which does happen now and then. It is just behind the grill with nothing in front of it, and is much thinner than the casing on the compressor.

Not to sound dumb, and I’m sure it was checked. But did you happen to make sure the settings weren’t split into the dual zone mode and both sides were set to the same temperature?

Did they check the air mix door actuator? There are two of them in cars with dual zone climate control. If one of them is stuck it can cause one side to blow hot air and the other side cold.

This sounds more the correct situation (experienced this with an Infiniti).
Blaming the condenser makes no sense when it's still able to be blow cold.
Sounds like them trying to get out of warranty repair.
