  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi,

Today suddenly when parked the hook open alarm came on even when the hood is closed. This is the second time it happened, the first time I tightened the black rubber knobs on the inside of the hood and it was okay (roughly 9-12 months ago) but this time I can't figure out the reason for it.

Anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this and how can I diagnose it?

Thanks

I had a vehicle 10 years ago and the alarm would sound randomly, it seemed. With resource to the owners group online I discovered it was most likely moisture in the trunk latch area that caused an open trunk message though trunk was closed. The moisture affected the sensor connection. Solution was drying all areas around trunk closure and also re-checking after dense fog, heavy rain or car wash.
Just an idea.

Waiting didn't quite work for me, but inspired from your message I took a few Q-Tips and went bonkers with the hood latch assembly and the sensor underneath it, it solved the problem instantly.
The reason I felt confident in trying this out was that when I stepped in the vehicle today I noticed that the hood alarm flickered basically it was deciding whether to trigger or not lol. Couldn't help but wonder that it might just need a good cleaning and sure thing the Q-Tips turned black.
