2022 GV70 low MPG

On December 13, 2025 I Purchased a 2022 Genesis GV70 3.5T sport with 12,350 miles and after driving it for a few days around town, I noticed it’s only at 6 MPG. Does that mean there is an issue with the car?

It is definitely not an "around town" car. You pretty much have to drive it 10 miles at a time without stop and go to get anywhere near EPA estimates. But 6 is too low. How many miles/stops per mile/ and especially minutes per trip is that average? If your regular drive is 5 miles with 20 stops you probably never will get out of the low to mid teens mpg.

Conditions matter, but that is very low. When I lived in CT, a trip to the store was 2 miles and in cold weather, I'd get 10MPG on the way there, 12MPG on the way back since it was warmed a bit. Short trip on the highway and it would be in the 20s.

Have some time this weekend? Take a longer ride and note what you get at intervals along the way. If you take a 30 mile ride and still get 6, that is a problem.
