  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Year
2024
Genesis Model Type
Genesis G90
Have had my G90 for about a month now. Damn happy and pleased with it. I was dead set on getting a MB S500, but after test driving one I was completely unimpressed. It was a base model, so not any extras at all. I've driven BMW 7 series, Audi S8, and Lexus in the past also. Finally decided to drop my ass in a 2024 G90 3.5t with e supercharger. While it comes with a $10k premium, you'd still pay $25-30k more for an S500 equally equipped. All Genesis needs to do now is come up with an NA V8 to match the Europeans, and a twin turbo V8 to fight with the AMGs and M series.

I’ve had my ‘24 e-SC for about a year and a half now and still look for reasons just to get in it and drive. I too test drove an S Class before purchasing and came to the same conclusion as you and I’ve never looked back.

The G90 was available with a 5.0 V8 from 17 to 22. 17-19 was the best looking G90 anyhow.

The 5.0 V8 was low in horsepower. If Genesis truly wants to beat Mercedes, drop the 3.5t, and make the 3.5t w/e charger the base model. Next step up would be a V8 with more than 500 HP. To compete with the AMG version, a twin turbo V8 with over 700 HP. Not sure about the 17-19 looking the best. To similar to the Mercedes S class.

An engine design from 10 years ago, making 420 horsepower, NA on base model luxobarge with a 5 second flat 0-60 time is "low in hp"??? Okie doke. You literally said "All Genesis needs to do now is come up with an NA V8 to match the Europeans, and a twin turbo V8 to fight with the AMGs and M series." Sounds like it fit the bill of what you were calling for without having to resort to implementing problematic and expensive turbos to achieve it - like the Europeans had to. And at 35% less of the base cost of them - yet while having almost all of the fully optioned out features.

In 2017, the 7 series was 445 and needed a pair of turbos to get it. The S class was 449 and also needed turbos. Audi? Yep - twin turbo to hit 450.

The 2nd generation G90 has been neutered, unfortunately. Too bad - cause it was a much better engine than the 3.3 and the current offerings - both of which are at their maximum potential, and have numerous issues. The 5.0 would have been a hell of an engine to turn into a TT to probably hit well beyond 700 with. But so much for that. The 1st gen was an acceptable compromise. 2nd gen - not so much.

I don't see that the 3.5 TT has reached its full potential. That being said, if you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. The G90 does that in every way in beating the Mercedes S class, except higher horsepower options. Hopefully the advances with the Magma program spread through all Genesis platforms.
