  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Year
2015
Genesis Model Type
2G Genesis Sedan (2015-2016)
Pros:
- Ultra plush interior
- Impressive handing for its size
- Serene ride quality
- Long list of features for the money

Cons:
- Not as efficient as some rivals
- Doesn't offer Genesis' latest tech
- Limited cargo space

The 2025 Genesis G90 is big, stately, and serene. For the latest model year, there are a few small changes to the G90, like the addition of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on all trim levels, and some extra buttons for controlling the automatic-closing doors (yep, it has those), but it's largely the same as the 2024 version. Keeping it much the same is just fine though — you'll hear no complaints from me about all the positives of carrying over such an excellent luxury sedan. On the outside, it has all the style you could want from a plush four-door and on the inside, it's dressed to match. Read more...

Muscle memory kicks in after a while. I have a series of buttons I click on my 21 G90 3.3 awd especially in the Chicago winter. I'll take that trade off over $20k on a S580. To this day, people stop and stare because they're not sure what kind of car mine is.

I remember those days as a Chicagoland "G80" early adopter in 2015... would get all kinds of stares and questions (especially as I had replaced the Flying H on the back with a set of Genny wings). One of my favorites was "Is that Italian?". The dumbfoundery when I replied, "No. Korean" was priceless. You could tell I had just broken his brain.

My favorite of all time - as sadistic as it might be - was when I was parked out of the way at a Jewel-Osco parking lot while updating directions for a trip, and I looked up to see a minivan making a slow turn around some cars parked in an aisle about 4 aisles away. Husband driving, wife riding shotgun, both are straight-up GAWKING from their right-front-quarter vantage point (probably the 80's best angle) - all the while continuing around their curve, not realizing it was too wide. They smacked nose-first right into a parked car in the next aisle. I just had to chuckle to myself.

I knew Genesis was something special with the launch of the first generation - but when the second generation was released, it really started attracting attention. We had the 2G Sedan parked at an outdoor mall where I used to hang out. Every time I was there people were circling around the car and talking about it. Every so often I'd join in on their conversation. It had the Genesis wings, so nobody knew it was from South Korea. Eventually I'd let them know the car was made by Hyundai. Most people got embarrassed and walked away. Pretty silly - but you know how it is. Some of the same stuff happened with Lexus when they first launched...

My 1st experience was in 2020, just before everything got shutdown. Waiting in lot of Eli's Cheesecake factory in Chicago, a guy asked me if my 20 G80 Sport was an Aston Martin. I was as confused as he was. Now I just smile along with my 21 G90.

Yeah I got the Aston question once.... it made me smile. But then the next day I got asked if it was a Chrysler. Was not happy. lol.

Interesting, I don't often hear people relate Genesis vehicles to Aston Martin - but the emblem can have that effect.

So you too, huh? Aston Martin. I didn't realize people were confusing the Genesis for an Aston. Bentley, all the time... Chrysler - eh. What can ya do? Yeah, that emblem is similar... I did like the Chrysler 300. And even that was thought to Bentley-esque. If they ever came out with a new Chrysler Imperial - I think they'd get respect again. Perhaps one day as an EV...
