  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Greetings, would like to know opinions on battery life if charged to 100% all the time. Know about general decrease battery life issues when charging to 100%. My issue is I fill up my gas cars to full. Is the battery management technology in a 2026 Gv70 EV good enough to maintain battery life even if charging every time to 100%? I suspect the answer is no. Please advise your recommended experience on charging % limits. Thanks!

Welcome to the community! You're spot on to suspect the answer is no. While the 2026 GV70 has an excellent battery management system, the nickel cobalt manganese lithium ion battery is kinda like a rubber band: keeping it stretched to 100% tension every single day causes it to lose its elasticity (capacity) much faster than if it stays relaxed in the middle of its range.

For daily longevity, the sweet spot is usually to set your charge limit to 80%. This keeps the battery chemistry in its most stable state for day to day running around. You should absolutely charge to 100% when you plan to drive a long distance immediately, but avoiding that 100% daily fill up will likely save you several percentage points of battery health over the life of the vehicle.

Thank you so much. Love the ‘rubber band’ elasticity comparison. Indeed it makes sense to not go 100% for daily driving.

You're very welcome! :) How are you liking the GV70 so far? What did you drive before it?

It is my first EV. I have other vehicles all gas-powered. The GV70EV is pleasant and fun to drive. I wish the basic model had some additional niceties such as automatic side mirror folding and 2 driver memory driver seat arrangement. These two items should be standard in a luxury vehicle. I know they are available on the next trim level, but not many advanced trims in the market place.
