  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi, I'm driving a 2013 Genesis 3.8.

I run summer/winter tires and am tired of having to re-mount tires twice a year.

I have an opportunity for a decent deal on a set of 245/50 R18s. Pretty sure stock is 235/50 R18s.

Any idea if they will work? Tiny difference in speedometer/odometer?

Tire Size Calculator

245/50 R18 = .3" taller, .3" wider.

speedo offset = -.2 @ 20 mph up to -1 at 90 mph.

so on average you would read .25 to .50 mph slower.

Buy another set of rims.

I have OEM rims with summer tires and after market rims with winter tires. It takes 30 minutes at Costco (in April and November) to swap wheels instead of re-mounting and re-balancing tires on the same rims.

Yup, that's what I'm looking at doing-- buying an aftermarket set of rims.

I have the opportunity to purchase 4 245/50 R18 rims/tires for $600 (10k miles on the tires). Whereas speccing out a new set of tires/rims from tirerack.com is at least $1200.
