  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Ever since my Genesis overheated it has started doing something very odd, under full throttle the rev limiter kicks in at 3.5K and then the engine bogs down cuts off and will not start. I've been back to the dealer 2 times and going on a 3rd for this same problem.

Any other members here have had the same problem?

I don't recall ever seeing that problem mentioned on this forum. I would start looking into the lemon laws for your state (Google), since your engine may have suffered permanent damage when it overheated.

Robo, please give us an update on your original problem. All that was obvious from your original post was that you lost coolant. What happened and why did the dealer say it happened.

The car sounds sick..get it to another "H" dealership...

The original issue was that the heater control module went bad thus causing the coolant leak. Since then it has started with this problem that the engine can not pass 3.5K RPM

Sounds like engine went into limp mode.
Curious what they told you the 2 times you were there.

Well I received the genesis back today and my writer advised me that the problem persists and the engine under full throttle will not pass 3.5 RPM. I will need to go back to the dealer tomorrow and drop her off again.

I'll be monitoring this thread to see how this works out. Best of luck.

I don't understand why you would take it back if it's still broken? How can they not have diagnosed this after weeks??

I was out of town last week on Thursday when my writer called me to let me know that she was ready. I authorized him to take her home and to test drive the car himself. When I got back into town and after I had returned the loaner back to the rental car company I was taken to the dealer, there is when my writer told me that the same problem had happened with him. Now hence to say that I was upset would be the understatement of the year, to the point that the service manager had to get involved as well as the GM of the dealer.

So no worries if they can not fix her this time out, I will start the lemon law process. I just do not know how the State of Florida handles this type of situation for a used car. I know that if a car is leased when you lemon law a car a replacement is provided as I personally know of someone who had to invoke this to a 2012 Sedan who had multiple problems with the steering wheel not having half of the functions working.

Being used, I'm not sure what your remedies are (if any) unless it's still under factory warranty. Good luck.

I am pretty sure that in Florida, there is no Used Car Lemon Law. The original manufacturers warranty "may" still be in effect, but not with the time constraints for fixing it under new car purchase Lemon Laws.

Lets see what happens, one of the reasons that I purchased this particular Genesis was that its a CPO car and the warranty is in effect.
