Sorry too disagree, but autocross, drag racing, hill climbs, etc., require extremely robust components. Not ones that will break after a few runs or miles. These LSD kits seem to be robust. Read the specs and responses. Can handle over 650 hp/torque, yet be just like regular LSD in day to day driving. Running autocrosses, hill climbs, street racing for 50+ years, I can attest to the strength of good aftermarket systems. As the ads state, will outlast the standard rear end. The launch control lock up feature alone would solve one of the car's inherent problems when street/strip dragging for those that want the more out of their vehicle without trying to get engine mods that will never be available. Watching this forum for a few years, I've noticed many posts about wanting more performance but only very few owners actually have been willing, though with limited success, to try to extract more performance from their 4.6 or 5.0s. Most are interested in exterior/interior appearance, wheel/tire mods, etc. Quite a difference from the Mustang, Camaro, & Dodge forums. This situation is neither bad or good, but does ensure conservative posts for the 4.6 & 5.0s. The G70 section & Kia Stinger forum appear to be more robust in searching for more street performance, aftermarket equipment, and apparently has more adventurous (maybe younger) owners who probably bought their cars with a different intent than most Genesis owners.

I think what he's getting at is that the Traction Concepts LSD has no 'wear' component like every other mechanical component on a car that makes contact between 2 spinning parts. That LSD is purely just metal on metal which when it does wear out, which might be pretty strong and last a while, will still be wearing into the side gears of the diff and basically ruining them over time. metal on metal where friction is needed is never a good idea, just look at brake pads, clutches, a typical LSD etc., they all have some kind of wear material that keeps the components from having metal to metal contact and can be replaced when worn.

I'm not saying the Traction Concept LSD wont work but with having no wear clutches in it like a tradition LSD the metal on metal contact will eventually wear into the side gears and they will become your wear point.

You can see what I'm talking about in these Google images. It's for Phantom Grip LSD's but they are identical to the Traction Concept units. You can see the wear of the side gears and carrier which not only ruins those parts but also put metal particles into your gear oil which will also ruin the rest of the diff over time. Whereas with a traditional LSD the clutches take the wear and leave no metal particles.

Hey I stand corrected if my opinion on some after-market LSD kits is wrong. I never installed one due to negative reviews from owners that has tried them in some older cars I owned. The reviews seem to suggest that the more affordable aftermarket units are not long lasting(relative to owner interpretation) as OEM LSD unit or expensive high end racing LSD gears. Like any product some aftermarket LSD kits are better than others with the most common and expensives kits are made primary for Mustangs and Camaros not Hyundai Genesis sedans.

Good find. However, I really only wanted the 3.91 gear ratio instead of my 3.73. A limited slip gear kit would be nice, but I will try to see if I can swap a complete rear axle out of a 3.3T G70 for longevity in the future. Many aftermarket add-on limited-slip kits are not known for their longevity. Good for an occasional track car, but not a daily driver. By longevity I mean at-least 100k miles, not maybe 30k miles or so.
Can I use 3.91 gears out of 3.3 and put into my 5.0. 2015 sedan.

The 3.3 rear axle may physically fit the 5.0 chassis from my research I believe, but the speedo and transmission shift points may be affected by the difference in gear ratios.

I have decided to try to install a used 3.73 Torsen LSD rear axle from a older 2012 Genesis 3.8 Track coup. The 3.8 coup LSD rear axle has the same ratio as the 5.0 rear axle so the swap should be easier without any tuning needed. However, the 3.8 LSD axle is very hard to find.

My only concern about the swap is if the 3.8 coup Track LSD axle can handle the HP and torque of the 5.0 V8.

Correction. I got confused with another rear axle. The 2015 Genesis 5.0 has the 3.53 rear axle and a 2016 Genesis coup 3.8 R-spec 3.53 Torsen LSD rear axle would fit with the same gearing.

Did you ever find a solution or get a 3.91 LDS?

Yes and No.

Yes, I decided that I may try to pick up a used rear diff from a 2016 R-spec 3.8 Genesis coup with the 3.538 LSD since my 2015 5.0 Genesis has the same gear ratio. The problem is that the rear-end is rare and hard to find used online.

No, to trying to use the 3.91 rear end. Even if the the rear-end works in my car, it will probably just spin the rear tires without a LSD. However, the 3.91 rear-end is very common to find online for anyone that wants to try it.
