  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
2G Genesis Sedan (2015-2016)
I recently purchased my 2015 DH and after overview I noticed in the rear window under the 3rd brake light it seems to be a cover missing. The surface still has some sticky adhesive on it but no cover. I went to the dealer, service and parts depts do not know what the part number is or what it looks like. I haven't found anything online to reference. Attached are 2 photos. Any assistance with part nr or name of cover would be appreciated.

Tks.

It looks to me like your cover is there, but someone may have stuck something to it that left the residue. My cover looks like yours in the pictures, only without the residue. There should be a hard plastic cover surrounded by a thin rubber gasket that covers the CHMSL (third brake light). Mine didn't feel like it was attached by adhesive over its entire surface, and it felt pretty flimsy and hollow underneath when I tapped on it. I also don't have anything that runs the entire width of the window like the residue seems to in your pictures.

If you're seeing red light bleeding from the CHMSL onto the rear glass when you apply the brakes, it may be that the gasket around your cover is deteriorating. Mine did after a couple of years, so I applied some black electrical tape around the cover to block the light.

You're not missing anything. If there's adhesive residue it's more likely the previous owner hung something from it.
