  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi, last week I picked up a CPO 2011 4.6. It was overcast the day I purchased and I didn't notice some peeling paint/oxidation on the car as it is white. It is on trunk lid just under plate. It isnt too major but I'd like to get it fixed before it does become major. Was just wondering if the paint warranty transferred to me. I'm pretty sure the carfax showed an original sale of October 2011 leaving a month remaining on that warranty if it does transfer.

All warranties transfer to subsequent owners, except the 10-year / 100K drivetrain warranty which only transfers if the car is sold as CPO by Hyundai dealer.

Whether or not that qualifies under the paint warranty is a different question that I cannot answer. The damage may have been caused by the way the license plate was installed, causing the paint damage when the trunk lid was slammed shut on the car. I install my license plate using nylon bolts and nuts to prevent that problem.

Thanks for the reply. I will try to get some pictures up tomorrow. It looks exactly like the paint issue another member had a few threads down from this one.

I would take it back to the Dealer asap.

Was able to get some pictures finally, it has been raining here the last few days. Also I checked the carfax and the car has been in service for 38 months so out of luck with the warranty. I guess I'll just buy some Hyundai touch up paint and see how that does. If not I'll have to see how much to get it done. Pretty weird it would just be this spot. The rest of the paint looks immaculate still.

Re: paint issues?

Bumping to see if anyone has paint issues.

Nope, nothing like that on either my 2009 or my 2012.

Since you're out of warranty I would recommend getting a few quotes at reputable body shops as well as the dealer.
