  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Nice finish, is that a wrap or painted?
Edit: nevermore I see it's a wrap. So is it removable?

nice build! its great to see more of these being posted!

interested to see what you do on the intakes. I am assuming it'll be for show as there is no tuning solution available.

looks great IMO... curious on the intake setup also... please keep us posted...

Love it !! Actually one of the reasons I'm trying to trade up to a Genesis now. Looking forward to seeing the build progress. Going to make SEMA?

SEMA is not open to the public. It is for those involved in the automotive aftermarket. I drove my Genesis out to SEMA last year - see my build thread for pictures.

I approve of all of this. That root beer wrap and gold wheels is the business. 😱👍

I'm quite aware of that, I attend yearly. The question was based off his previous Sonata build potentially being finished in time for sema.

Yeah the sonata was going to sema but I got a great deal on the Genesis 5.0..

This car will be in a booth at Sema this year. No gold wheels :) there copper plated.
yeah it will only be put on for shows....No need to drive around with a Intake when it will do nothing for the car, it may even take away HP.

Also I saw on IG that in Saudi Arabia there's the intake for the 5.0 alone with some other goodies that aren't sold over here

Rose goldish colored copper beauties is what I meant by "gold". Wheels are amazing

Nice to see some modded genny's!

We'll both have Genesis sedans at SEMA then. We need to organize a photoshoot for Saturday or Sunday. I will have the media guys with me that shoot all of my rally events and the pictures you see in my build thread.

Been following this for a while on the Facebook Group, glad to see you posted it up here. Quality stuff.

I have done a large amount of research on the intake. I was going to fabricate one (two because of the dual intakes) but decided not to because of a few reasons:

1) an intake with no viable tuning solution would do nothing for performance, and as you mentioned it could actually reduce performance. Until there is a tuner that is able to crack the ECU on the 5.0 this will remain true.
2) If a tuner does crack the ECU, any gains would be negligible. Even on my GT500, an intake and a tune can add 50-60 rwhp, but that engine is high 400s at the wheels stock. Our cars assuming normal parasitic loss of 20% are probably 340-350 at the wheels. I think the max an intake would do is generate another 20-30 hp at the wheels, if we are lucky. Given the cost of manufacturing and weight of the car there simply isn't a good reason to dive deeper into this modification.
3)The Genesis is my daily and I don't care for it to be a little faster. It's plenty quick as it is. If I want to go fast I have other cars for that.

All that being said I am glad you are here and are sharing your build. It is nice to see someone else that embraces this platform and is doing a quality build.

good for you. I am sure you are quite aware that most people have no clue it is not open to the public then.
