  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So my R-spec has been doing something strange. In gears 3, 4, and sometimes 6, when I get on it, I get a random "stumble" and "shudder" feeling reminiscent of what my Firebird would do when the ignition wires were arcing against the exhaust manifolds.

Does anybody else have this problem? Is it a misfire, TCC shudder, or something else?

Are you turning at the same time or going straight?

Probably the ignition wires arcing against the exhaust manifolds.

J/K - could be a hundred things, from a loose battery connection (or anywhere in the ECU/TCU wiring harness) to the traction management nannies kicking in as OUsig suggests.

Buy a $15 OBD2 bluetooth code reader and get the Torque app. Easy to pull codes at any time. The genny clears stored codes after three starts, so intermittent faults can be tricky to get even with this setup unless youre right on top of it.

I have experienced this also, except it happens in gears 2-7. Usually at ~40-60% throttle. I have a dedicated device for OBD2 and Torque and have not seen anything at all. I am suspecting it is transmission related. The dealership is supposed to put in a logging device next time I am over there so I can drive around a few weeks and see what it can catch.
