  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

5 Years and Still No Tune on the 5.0????

Given that the fully optioned 4.6 and 5.0 are pretty similar, I'd think your only course is to swap in a 4.6 ECU and tune that. If you got one with the same options (tech, signature, etc.) then you'd probably be alright on the ECU recognizing equipment and sensors, and since you're tuning anyway you can make the 4.6 ECU dance to your tune. Unless they did something really really screwy, it should work.

The 4.6 picks up 2 tenths and 2-3mph with a Tune, so would the 5.0 as it runs Pig Rich from the Factory...!

PLEASE tell me about the "tune" for the 4.6L.

You do know about the spacer under the air cleaner flapper, right?

Please inform me about this "flapper". P L E A S E :)

Not sure this applies to the 4.6 as I have a 5.0.

The air box has a flapper that closes at idle and opens with the throttle (but perhaps slower than we would like therefore causing a delay). There are two workarounds:

Remove the air filter and remove the magnet that holds the flapper shut. Optionally reinstall so that the flapper is always open.

Glue a piece of something (I used a fabric circle that is used on furniture to keep from damaging wood floors) to the air box so that the flapper is always part way open.
