50% or Lighter Tint Pictures?

I will be getting my Genesis windows tinted soon and I want to get a light tint. I think most people go for either 35% or 20% but I want to go 50% or higher. I am looking at Suntek CXP tint at 55% for all 5 windows right now.

If you had your Genesis tinted at 50% or higher on all 5 windows, could you post some pics? I would love to see what it would look like before I get mine done. If it is on pearl white one like mine, even better. Thanks in Advance.

I have a Formula One Pinnacle 50% ceramic tint, but no pics. I believe that Musher51 has the same tint film on his Genesis and has posted pics on this forum. You can check his profile or search the forum for Formula One Pinnacle.

I checked the Suntek CXP website, and the "Competitor Comparison" where you can see the difference between Formula One Pinnacle 50 and the CXP 55 film you are looking at. The performance specs are similar, but the color of the Suntek CXP looks more black than the Pinnacle (which has a very slight bluish color). That is not surprising since CXP 55 claims to be a "non-metal, nano-hybrid, Carbon technology."

According to the specs Suntek CXP 55 has a VLT of 53% and Formula One Pinnacle 50 has a VLT of 54%, so the Pinnacle 50 actually lets more light in.

With your 50% tint all around, any problems with cops? In California, you really can't have much tint on front side windows. In my previous cars, I always had darker tint in the back than the front (35%F/20%R) and the difference made it look like the fronts did not have tint in them or at least it was not very noticeable. But with same tint all around, it might attract more attention from the cops.

I live in a 35% state for all 5 windows, so a lot of people don't even realize that my windows are even after-market tinted with my 50% tint. But I can't really give any advice of what the police in CA would do about a 50 if the laws are 70.

There is a big difference between what a tint looks like from the outside than from the inside, especially if the interior is a dark color. I don't think anyone would find a nano-ceramic 50% tint too dark if you are inside the car looking out, but obviously it is going to be up to what the police think looking from the outside.

It looks like you have a white pearl Genesis too, light tint goes well with the white color? The tinter told me Suntek will have a bit of Greenish hue to it.

I have a silver Genesis with black interior. I looked at the specs and the Pinnacle 50 has almost as much solar rejection (49%) as Pinnacle 35 (54%) so I went with the Pinnacle 50 film (which is actually 54 VLT).

When looking from the outside through a window and out the other side, the Pinnacle 50 appears almost invisible. But when looking from the outside into a black interior (such as seat) it appears quite dark.

I wonder if the greenish hue on the Suntex CXP Carbon comes from the window itself if the film is completely neutral in color. Like I said, Pinnacle has a very slight blue hue to it. Most shops will give out small samples if you ask.

So I finally ended up getting the Suntek CXP 55% tint on my Genesis. It ended up looking darker than I imagined. And it does have the slight greenish tint Suntek was supposed to have.

If I had to do it again, I think I would go for the 70% tint.

Get your car out in the daylight and the tint would look almost clear. Maybe post a few more pics, sunny day and a night shot.

I thought it would look nearly clear but not so. I had 35% tint on my last car and this is not much lighter than the 35%. Even in sun it looks dark. Not much different than what you see in this pic. Maybe suntek tints are little darker than others.

If I get pulled over by cops I will go for the 70% for reinstall.

As I mentioned before, CXP 55 claims to be a "non-metal, nano-hybrid, Carbon technology." Carbon (like smoked) films typically are made to look darker than a pure nano-ceramic film. Sounds like they call the Suntex CXP Carbon a "nano-hybrid" film, which may mean it is a cross between nano-ceramic and Carbon. Carbon is used to make the film darker, but without the fading that often can occur with dyed films.

But no high quality nano-ceramic tint film is going to look clear if you are looking at a black interior, partly because it is somewhat reflective, and will only "appear" mostly transparent when you are looking in one window and out another window on the other side of the car. If you had a beige interior, that might be different.
