70 days ago I almost pulled the entire front bumper off my '18 G80. A couple days later I was in my local body shop where I found out they were scheduling about 70 days ahead due to Covid and lack of available body replacement parts. Yesterday was when I car was supposed to be repaired and I was told the key parts I needed were not available and they didn't know when they would be.
The picture with the bungee cords holding the bumper on had a gap of over 1" open. I'm PISSED. So today I thought I would try to fix the bumper myself until the body shop can get their act together. I started lightly tapping with my fist at the center of the grill, just under the Genesis Wings. Moving right to left, the bumper started sliding back into the clips that hold it in place. Pretty soon I had the bumper back in place to the left side of the grill. The part that is being held in place with my bungee cord still looked like it does in that picture, but slow tapping once again shaped that section back in it's retaining clips as well.
The duck tape is probably not necessary, but a safety precaution to keep the bumper in place. The bumper itself has several cracks in it, but this gets me back on the road. I asked the body shop guy if what I did was possible and he said no. If anyone is wondering, the estimate to replace the bumper is $2,900.
