85,000 mile review, 2015 5.0

7 years old creeping up on 100k miles on my 2015 5.0 faster then I thought. Just hit 85k. So far I’ve had no serious issues, although i have had a two minor things.


1st issue:
Occasionally, my blind spot warning light on the mirrors will stay illuminated for 10-20 seconds despite no vehicle being there. Besides that it will work as normal 99% of the time. Not sure if sensors going wonky or maybe dust/mud got on the sensors somehow? Maybe someone bumped with shopping cart or car door? Will have to do research.

2nd issue,
The small rubber piece on the trunk that covers the latch button has basically disintegrated.


Overall, has been a solid car. No engine problems, drivetrain problems, or electric problems. Everything works and so do all the little buttons and doo-hikeys. The paint still looks brand new which is surprising after baking in the florida sun for 7 years. no clear coat peeling anywhere or any fading spots. Ive read that paint was a problem but I haven’t had such issues, perhaps it’s because i wax and ceramic coat it every couple months.
Interior is still flawless and looks brand new. The leather seats are aging very well and still look new.

Hoping i can get 200k out of this car, we will see!

The 5.0 engine does seem to be an reliable engine. My 90k mile engine looks new on the inside with 4k mile oil change intervals.

The only issues I noticed under close inspection is that the engine may have some areas on the engine timing covers and upper oil pan with "seeping" gaskets. Not enough to be considered an leak, but the start of actual leaks eventually which may happen well over 200k miles. Nothing that needed to be addressed now at 90k miles.

Yeah, no engine issues for me to date, but I religiously change my oil and just had my plugs done (at a hideous price - stealership). I think I detect a bit of wind noise around the driver's side front, but that's it. About to take her on a 220 mile cruise.

Not sure if this is why ur hearing wind noise, but if u fold back the door seals u will see little plastic hook clips that go through holes on the rubber to hold it onto the body. One of those hooks probably came loose on yours. Find it and clip it back in and noise should go away.

Mine does that too - I found that it was the seal at the leading edge of the REAR door that came loose. It's easy to brush up against it when you get in the driver's door...

Amgil, I'm surprised that the rubber gasket below the top rear break light has not disintegrated just like the trunk latch cover.
