If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My 15 3.8 is going in for 90K recommended service, I was quoted $799.95 by the dealer, anyone here can say if that's a fair price. This will include the normal oil change, tire rotation , ac flush & ac line vacuum, brake flush, cabin and engine filter. It seems on the high side to me.

Besides the ac things, you can do the other stuff in a driveway.

It doesn't even include spark plugs? New timing belt or chain? New belts all around? Coolant flush and new antifreeze?
Yes that is high!

$800 for basically just changing a couple filters and rotating tires lol. The AC flush bs is a waste of money too, if your ac is working fine dont f$%k with it.

You can all of the above AND more for a little over $100, doing it yourself in a few hours with basic hand tools.

Thanks for the advise, my local mechanic quote was $326, I got a $900 quote from another STEALER, these dealers are something else. Can anybody here recommend a good Genesis mechanic in Atlanta, GA area ?.

I wish I could, not so handy with cars.
So the recommended is mostly inspect. So $600 if for a mechanic to look at stuff, what a rip off. I have never spend more than $250 for service, is these dealers abusing covid to charge these outrageous price ?,
Here is the list of recommendation for 90K
  • Inspect Air Conditioning Refrigerant
  • Inspect Brake Fluid
  • Inspect Brake Hoses and Lines
  • Inspect Drive Belt(s)
  • Inspect Driveshafts and Boots
  • Inspect Exhaust Pipe and Muffler
  • Inspect Front Brake Disc/Pads, Calipers
  • Inspect Fuel Filter
  • Inspect Fuel Lines, Fuel Hoses, and Connections
  • Inspect Fuel Tank Air Filter
  • Inspect Parking Brake
  • Inspect Propeller Shaft
  • Inspect Rear Brake Disc/Pads
  • Inspect Steering Gear Box, Linkage & Boots/Lower Arm Ball Joint, Upper Arm Ball Joint
  • Inspect Suspension Mounting Bolts
  • Inspect Vacuum Hose
  • Inspect Vapor Hose and Fuel Filler Cap
  • Replace Air Cleaner Filter
  • Replace Climate Control Air Filter / Air Conditioning Filter (for evaporator and blower unit)
  • Replace Engine Oil and Filter
  • Tire Rotation
  • Add Fuel Additive (recommended only if TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline is not available. See owner's manual for details.)

I would go a independent shop. Ask a friends or family for recommendations. These cars are fairly easy to work on. No special tools are needed like other luxury brands. If they can work on a hyundai theyll be able to work on your genesis.

  • Replace Air Cleaner Filter
-you can do this in 5 minutes
  • Replace Climate Control Air Filter / Air Conditioning Filter (for evaporator and blower unit)
-again, 5 minutes
  • Replace Engine Oil and Filter
-if you bring your own oil, shouldn't more than $35 at the dealer
  • Tire Rotation
If you're with Discount Tire, it is free
  • Add Fuel Additive (recommended only if TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline is not available. See owner's manual for details.)
-Can of Techron is the additive Hyundai uses.

EVERYTHING ELSE (inspections) are covered under the free 128 point inspection dealers do. Make them breakdown the cost. Most is BS.

This is the service list from the email they sent.
  • PERFORM 90,000 MILE ENGINE OIL AND FILTER SERVICE, ADD PREMIUM ENGINE OIL FORTIFIER, PERFORM ETHANOL FUEL TREATMENT SERVICE, PERFORM ENGINE PERFORMANCE RESTORATION SERVICE, REPLACE ENGINE AIR FILTER, REPLACE CABIN AIR FILTER AND APPLY AC VENT DISINFECTANT, PERFORM AC EVAPORATOR CLEANING SERVICE, PERFORM COMPLETE FUEL AND AIR INDUCTION CLEANING SERVICE, REPLACE BRAKE FLUID, ROTATE TIRES AND INSPECT CONDITION, PERFORM MULTI POINT INSPECTION, TOP OFF FLUIDS
Thats a bunch of balony without bread, I cant believe someone in their right frame of mind could justify $799.95 for this. NB. My Platinum CPO Wrap 100K extended warranty will not reduce any of this cost either. Unbelievable... Anybody here ever use this online company YourMechanic: Auto Repair by Top-Rated Mobile Car Mechanics, they say the mechanic can come to your house for no addittional charge.

And then they'll prob "find something" that needs replacing that doesnt necessarily need to be done.
I've used the same mechanic for 20 years that whenever I get the oil-filter changed (which I provide - $25 labor) that looks everything over anyway. If I have noticed any issues I let them know.

I end up using a local mechanic, final cost $263, he found a rear differential oil leak and air condition fan noise. Took the car to another dealer and the oil leak will be repaired under powertrain warranty, fan, TPMS sensors & broken glove box is covered by my extended warranty. I guess all dealers or not stealers.

@ 90k - I'd drain & refill transmission fluid & replace filter pan as well (DO NOT FLUSH).
