  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello, just joined the forum after browsing for a few days. I've been genuinely impressed with how helpful and knowledgeable people are. Most auto sites are full of toxic people.

I'm looking to replace my 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix with a newer and more upscale version of the same chassis size (roomy back seats). Grand Prix 198" 1G Genesis 196".

As I've been reading up on the Genesis, a couple things have begged asking...

1. The CPO 10/100k warranty everyone talks about. I've seen it referred to as 'restoring' the original 10/100k. Does this mean a 2 year old CPO car with 25k miles will then have 8 years 75k left, or is it a fresh 10/100k from the day you buy the CPO?

2. Where are all the 2014s? Here are the nationwide numbers for Genesis via cars.com:

2015 - 422
2014 - 64
2013 - 434
2012 - 585
2011 - 218
2010 - 138
2009 - 271

With my budget, I'd be looking at a 2013 or 2014, but there are no 2014s in my area at all.

Thanks for helping.

You should visit the Hyundai website to see the warranty details, but it goes something like this in the USA only (for 2009-2015 only):

  • Manufacturer's warranty - 5 years or 60K miles which ever comes first - completely transferable to used cars
  • Drivetrain Warranty - 10 years or 100K miles which ever comes first. Only available to the original owner, unless the car is a CPO. Drivetrain is engine and transmission, but not necessarily everything attached to the engine or transmission.
  • Audio/Video/Nav - 3 years or 36K miles which ever comes first
  • Paint, adjustments, etc - one year
  • Different warranty periods for emissions and rust perforation, etc (you can look it up).
The production run for 2014 was shorter than normal due to early release of the 2015, second generation Genesis.
