  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

A few features I wish I had (or haven't found yet)

I currently own a loaded 2013 Chrysler 300 C (with all packages except AWD, HEMI V8 and sunroof) and recently leased a 2015 Genesis 3.8 RWD Ultimate.

The Genesis is noticeably better than the Chrysler, but I have found a few things that are missing (or just not obvious to me).

  1. On the Chrysler 300, if the rain sensing wipers come on, the lights get turned on (from DLR to full lights). I find that very practical and wish the Genesis did this as well
  2. The Chrysler has the ability to read text messages from my phone to me. Very useful while driving without getting distracted by looking at the phone. I wish the Genesis had the same ability
  3. The sound system plays different sources with different loudness, even at the same sound setting, i.e. Pandora requires me to crank up the sound, while the CD player is very loud by default. I never noticed that issue on the Chrysler - at least not with such huge differences in loudness. It's rather annoying to get blasted by the CD player when the phone had previously been able to supply Pandora music via Bluetooth at a normal level.
  4. The Chrysler had adaptive headlights that would turn with the steering wheel - it's odd that Hyundai neglected to make these available in the US, as they seem to be available in other parts of the world.
Overall I love the car, just a few details seem a little off versus the Chrysler. I'll get used to the car, and I still have a few things to find and learn I guess. the HUD, LKA and other electronics are pretty amazing, and the interior materials on the Hyundai are two notches above the Chrysler, which wasn't bad to begin with.

If you have an iphone, you can use the built in Siri Eyes Free feature to read and send text messages (and e-mail).

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

The first generation Genesis had this feature on the Technology Package in the USA. I guess it didn't make the cut on the second generation (2015+) in the USA due to pricing concerns.

Agree on the lights with wiper function. I had that feature on Chryslers going back to the mid 90's. If wipers were on, lights were on. Since that is the law in many states, that would be an easy addition.

If you have an iphone with Siri, you can use the Sire Eyes Free feature to read and send text messages. Just press and hold the voice command button for about 2 seconds. Then use Siri the same way you would on your phone.

At least if things haven't changed since the 1st Gen, adjusting the volume level and equalizer settings is specific to each input source. Tweak each source separately until you get them the way you like them.

+1 on this. Basically any time the wipers are on, the lights should be on too.

I noticed on my European model that the lights give a very wide spread, and I don't think the turning lights are necessary.
The details given are

HID Headlights with Auto Levelling Device, Static Cornering Lights and Headlamp Wash. Anyone know what the 'Static Cornering Lights' are? Do these give the spread?

On some VW models the "static cornering lights" are actually the fog-lights that come on on one side when you turn the wheel (thus "cornering lights"). They help illuminate the lower side of the visible area and do apparently help in "slow" areas. I assume that's the same on the Genesis.

Strangely, the 2015 model year 3.8L models in the US don't have fog-lights (maybe the 5.0L does, not sure). Thus, this feature isn't available on even the highest specced version here in the US. I think they added fog-lights for the 2016 model year.

The adaptive HIDs on my Chrysler are very useful on higher speed country roads or highways (or anything that's not lit by street lights), it's a feature I noticed missing from the Genesis the first night I drove home (unlit road with slight corners and a 45 mph speed limit).

Is there any way to have intermittent wipers besides the slow-to-respond automatic wipers? The little toggle switch normally for frequency adjustment of intermittent (on most cars) doesn't seem to do anything, except maybe make the automatic wipers even less sensitive.

The auto wiper feature is a disaster - so much for unneeded gadgets

My Sonata has a simple manual wiper delay control which works easily and perfectly.

The auto wiper feature is a disaster

Sorry I just had to dive in here.

The auto wipe on mine works really well. This was one feature that impressed me shortly after I received the car.

I believe there is a speed adjustment for this. Does that actually adjust the speed of wipe, or is it something like when the wiper works?

Both. It adjusts the speed and how often the sweeps happen, if at all.

I have the Ultimate package. I feel I'm not utilizing all the features available in my car, eg voice commands, NAV system, bluelink, mobile apps, etc. Need to read the manual.. lol

I don't use any of the referenced gadgets named.

But, I do use the V8 liberally -- vrrooom.

And, you don't need to read the manual for that.

When I said the auto wipe was a disaster, the interactive control with the speed adjustment is what I meant.

You can play with the control all you want - the auto wipe still does pretty much what it wants to. A simple manual control would suit me much better. In short, I can decide what wiper speed I need far better than the auto fn.

I would have liked to have seen an output value showing the charging rate to the battery, and a battery condition voltage or percentage charged. I do a lot of short trips, and I'd like to see if I'm flattening the battery.
Also an oil pressure value. Would be fun to have a little 'Engineers Panel' on the LCD.

this is a luxury sedan, not a sports car. the Genesis coupe has those things available, but it is a sports car
