A little help for my new 2012

I'm trying to see if my car is operating normal. I'm referring to the display between the speedo and tach that displays fuel consumption data. The owners manual says by scrolling down you get A/V and Nav info (if equipped), buy mine just returns to distance to empty. I've got the tech and premium packages.
As a side note, the DIS never showed an option to disable the easy seat function, but thanks to this site, I learned how to get into the engineer mode to resolve that issue. I don't know why it was disabled in the first place.

Oops, it's a 3.8 if that matters.

I believe, these two features are only available on the 2013 & 2014 Tech/R-Spec.

To confirm if you do not have blue link and or you do have a 6 DVD changer, that feature would not be available.

If you hit the DISP (under the trip) button on the steering, you should get something like, Distance to empty, MPG, AVG MPG, Eco, AVG Speed and that is about it (not sure if I missed one)..

I have the 2012 and no blue link. Strange that the 2012 owners manual shows those functions though. I'm not surprised. I'm bringing the car in tomorrow for this issue and am looking forward to their response. Thanks.

2012 3.8 with tech should show all of the previously mentioned plus radio/sat/DVD info and either a real-time compass or if route guidance is on NAV info.

I have the tech and premium and it does not show sat/radio/nav.
The tech at the dealer said it was only available for models without the DIS.
Go Figure. If your car has the same config as mine, and provides that info, I would like to know that.

My '12 Premium package only model has no DIS (thankfully!). When pushing the Display button on the steering wheel there is no A/V or Nav option shown. I think your dealer is pulling your chain. The Premium models have buttons to the left of the Nav screen to select what function appears on the big Nav touchscreen.

This unit WILL support the dash display function (2013-2014 TECH/R-Spec Model):



This feature was provided as part of the head unit upgrade.

As far as the manual is concerned, I would speculate that it was supposed to be part of the 2012 refresh, but something was not ready and so Hyundai went with the earlier model (which had the older mapping software / UI interface / Older Bluetooth / No phone music streaming on the Tech.. etc).

OK. I give up. Do you think a different engine on a similarly equipped vehicle would have different functionality with its display? Hard to believe Hyundai would even bother to program these cars differently. I wonder if there is this function was disabled in the engineering mode to differentiate these vehicles. I learned my vehicle had a build date in June, 2011. And I thought my Mini Cooper was quirky!

Ron, that is most interesting! My colleague that has a 2012 R-Spec which does not display "nav route guidance, sat/fm/aux radio" only the compass! I asked two dealers about this, one of them supposedly escalated to Hyundai engineers, the answer was these features were available as part of the 2013 Tech/R-Spec refresh only!

Since you have the 2012 that has this feature, I have few questions to avoid the usual Hyundai guessing games:

1 - What is the manufacturing date of your vehicle?
2 - Did you update the NAV system?
3 - What is the NAV / BT Versions you have installed?
4 - Which NAVI / DEST is closer to your version? a or b?
[EDIT] 5 - Can you stream stereo via BT Phone to your car system?

It would be nice to find out the difference between your version and other people, to see if it is some setting that can be enabled, FW update or something else..

As I can see I'm not the only one, but sure I can get back with these answers for you in a couple hours, I have not done a nav update and can't stream via Bluetooth and I have version A. So this answers three of your questions already.

No '12 Tech package owner in this forum has ever reported being able to stream Bluetooth audio. Of course, the base and Premium '12 models can stream BT audio.

I get all of the afore mentioned displays.
My stereo looks like the first picture.
My Nav display is A.
I have no idea if it will stream BT as I have never tried.
I have not updated the NAV. The NAV display only shows up in the dash console when I have route guidance active on the NAV.
Radio, distance, compass, etc show up all the time.

Sounds like you either do not have the tech and premium packages as stated or there is something wrong with your system.

Sounds like you either do not have the tech and premium packages as stated or there is something wrong with your system.

Checked the build date on my Friend 2012 R-Spec which JUN/30/2011.

At this stage we found out that the majority consensuses is that it should be available on 2012 TECH/R-Spec and the info I was provided is not correct.

I only have the 3.8 with tech and premium. So far it seems that a similarly equipped '12 R-Spec displays all the functions, but a 3.8 only displays mileage and fuel consumption data.
I'm guessing there is some function in the eng mode that has disabled my 3.8. Somewhat frustrating, but makes for interesting reading. Thanks all!

I'm still trying to figure out why you need that info displayed on the screen between the tach and the speedo. ????
