  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

While searching for new daytime running light (DRL) kit for my 2009 genny, I came across what seems to be a new one from Philips. 12825WLEDX1
Called the "DayLightGuide"
http://www.usa.philips.com/c/car-lamps/led-daylightguide-drl-12v-6w-12825wledx1/prd/en/

I cannot locate much information on these but they do sell on ebay for about $220.

I'm still on the fence to which DRLs to get. I like the Philips DayLight 4 as seen here:
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Philips-12820WLEDX1-DayLight-Powered-Daytime/dp/B005DX6BRK"]Philips 12820WLEDX1 DayLight 4 High Powered Luxeon LED Daytime Running Light : Amazon.com : Automotive[/ame]

Does anyone have experience with these? Is there a better brand/type than these for the price? And if these are the best for the price, where is the best place to get them?

Thanks.

My friend who drives a honda accord got one from ebay which is around $30-50 and it looked great IMO. I dunno if those will last long because they aren't as price but they are still running great last time i saw them! ( he had them over for 5 months now ) But the ones you're showing and the ones listed on ebay ( other brands ) don't look too different to me.

NJTom,

Where do you plan to mount DRLs on your Genesis? I am still trying to decide on where to install DRLs on mine.

Not sure yet. I looked at the front end and there really are not many places. Probably in the bottom grill section as far apart from each other as i can get them.
Anyone have suggestions?

Just a thought... If you're really wanting DRL's and would like to maintain a factory look, there is a relatively simple way to use the small marker lights housed in the high beam reflector. By using a single pole, double throw relay, you could activate these lights when the car is running and still allow them to be on, as designed, when the headlights are in use, as well,

Depending on the depth of your warranty, if any, this may or may not be a good option.

Don't have any experience with those, but Philips generally makes quality products. From the looks of the pics, the 12825 model you linked to Philips' website is probably just a newer model. If you look close at the pics the 12825 are 2 horizontal stacked LED strips, where as the 12820 on Amazon look like 4 LEDs side by side. So the look of the lights will be different and be dependent on what you think looks better.

This sounds like a good approach. Can you provide me with step by step instructions including the parts required to do this mod? Maybe others would be interested to learn too.

Thanks.
