  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello everyone, these past few days I have been browsing forum posts and noticed that many people have mentioned issues with differentials and transfer case.

I am a potential buyer of a GV70 in Vancouver, Canada. The sales representative informed me that a 2023 GV70 2.5T Prestige will arrive in 4-6 weeks and is currently "on a boat."

I would like to know the possiblity of encountering differential and transfer case issues with this vehicle. Alternatively, should I wait for the 2024 model of the GV70, which reportedly will have a price increase of around CAD 1500 but will have the exact same features as the 2023 model?

I have had my '23 2.5T Prestige since last December. I have 8700 kms on it. No issues. But imo, buying a '23 now when the '24's are just around the corner, I would wait unless you need a car now.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I am coming up on a year and have about 18k KM and have replaced my rear differential once and it is looking like it has to be done again. Depending on the manufacture date you should already have the updated diff and should be ok.

LOL. I ordered the same car/trim back in March and my dealer told me the same thing. That's my car, mister! ;) Now I just have to wait for the dock worker strike to end.

Got my 2023 Prestige in late October 22, but have a whopping 3,000 kms on it. Yup, you read right. Hybrid work and my office being only 12 kms away. But so far, so good with mine. If you're like me and only keep vehicles 3-4 yrs, then you should consider waiting for 24 MY because you get the bonus of lower depreciation when you sell (well you possibly gain a few months). However, if you plan on keeping for the long haul, makes no difference really, get the car you want when you can get it.

No idea what percentage of people have this issue - on this forum it seems really high but most people only come here when they have a problem, so it's a bit skewed. I thought the same thing a year ago when I waited for the '23 model instead of the '22. But I got the problem almost immediately on my '23. Not sure waiting on a '24 will make any difference, sadly. But you'll probably get an HDA 2 chip on the '24 if that means anything to you.
