  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

A friend of mine bought a Ford Fusion new in 2010. Now has 30,000 miles. She took it for an oil change, normal service and they did the usual inspection. The rear brakes were marked in the Yellow range. Being a cautious person, she made an appointment to have the brakes replaced.

They took the car in, pulled the wheels and the service manager came over to her. He said the brakes were at 50% and will last a long time yet. He said he could not take her money and do something not needed. Not only that, he gave her a discount coupon the the next oil change to compensate for the time she spent there.
That is good customer service.

Yes, and unusual. Brake jobs are money makers for dealers, and they love to tell you that you need brakes when they're not even close to worn out, or if the rear rotors have a little rust on them. (I've found this to be a common problem on hybrids, whose rear brakes do very little most of the time).
Good to know there's still some honest service guys out there.
