  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

finally got down to driving the finalists of my next ride. first up, a 2013 audi A8 3.0t . at first a very impressive ride if ponderous size wise. the supercharged v6 is a great match for the car if youre being relatively frugal on gas. however on the return part of my test drive the IP shows ' right rear tire pressure low ' and Im like wtf? but it gets better as about a minute from being back at the dealer after having switched the drive select from comfort to dynamic, the IP shows 'air suspension fault'. buggin out, I park the thing in the lot and report to the salesman who has a 'wtf' look on his face too. his explaination of the tpm was that 'youll get that every day because the tires heat up and it happens'.

didnt say to him that in my former lexus and infiniti and current infiniti vehicles this happens only rarely as in 3 times in 9 years. then I take out the second contender, a 2014 A6 prestige. that is a fabulous car. the nav screens on both audis are unequalled. the perfomance of the A6 is amazing for what it is, probably the best car in it class. no clue it was THAT good. told the salesman to see me in september with the specs I wanted on an A6. had written off the genesis but then something told me to go drive one so I did at the local dealer. while on the lot it was disquieting to say the least then I looked inside the awd ultimate he was going to get the keys for and saw.... a completely disassembled dash.

he was stunned when I pointed this out. he then said that oh yeah, a customer had hit his radio screen and broken it and they replaced it with the radio/nav from this car. also said he was surprised that it was covered under warranty.riiiiiight as if my impression of hyundai dealers wasnt already shit. then he got the keys to another ultimate and off we go. showed me all the systems and then on the return leg gives me the helm. this car is fantastic. the head up display is great. the pickup is great. the ride is matched by the ls 430 I regretted trading in almost as soon as I had in 2006. theres nothing bad or even negative to say about the genesis except that it wont be available until november as a 2016 which I want for the led fogs and the like.

the car I drove had been built in november of 14 and the salesman [who did a great job] said that of the 3 dealerships they run theres quite a few genesis' that theyd like to get rid of. something about floorplan and financing. its a great car as Ive already said but Im not sure Ill be able to wait for one since the A6 will be available sooner. I told him that the genesis has won several car of the year awards and Im surprised that they dont play it up. he said he didnt know that. also, the power soft closing doors that I have seen in numerous reviews WERE NOT on the ultimate we drove. is there an explanation for that because the salesman wasnt aware of them even existing. maybe its like the reclining power seats, rear seat armrest controls, and 360 degree camera and 3d nav that are available in other markets but not america. still the genesis IS a revelation that for some reason is still under the radar.

Unfortunately, the power soft-closing doors are not available on North American vehicles. Before I had kids, I would have scoffed at such an option, but now I don't want to do anything (such as slamming a car door) to wake the little energy bundles once they're sleeping. My goodness let them sleep as longggg as they'd like.

i too was cross shopping the a6 with the supercharged 3 litre v6 [fantastic powerplant, my daily driver is an s4 with the same motor]

however:
genesis bigger trunk, bigger back seat, awd system, all of the tech, cheaper to maintain, for bundles less, i feel like i practically stole this car!

one of the best car purchases i have ever made, now i get the best of both worlds, got the genny for people hauling long trips etc, and my s4 for pure unadulterated fun time.

Hyundai's not playing games with the Genesis - that's for sure. They don't have the greatest "name" because of their history of making "affordable" cars -- but that doesn't mean they don't know how to make expensive cars... I'm glad more people are getting test drives in these cars...

under the radar is okay with me, just means I'll see less of myself around.

yeah that 3.0t in the A6 is fantastic. it is becoming a terrific internal battle between the genesis and the A6. if it werent for the tech, and I know the tech really isnt necessary, it would be no contest. the sales guy even told me that his customers get a genesis as a loaner when necessary. in the next 5 weeks I will be in daily turmoil. the genesis is that good.
