  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Gm everyone, I have a friend want to sell me there 2011 Hyundai 4.6. She said she don't want to fix the AC compressor that is throwing out hot air. The temperature hand goes to hot and shut off. I know the thermostat may need to be changed. I was wondering how much would it cost to replace the Compressor and replace the Freon. The person want 3800 obo. What would be a good offer to offer this person. It has 112k miles on the odometer.

Sounds like there are two problems, the AC system and the engine cooling system. You said "The temperature hand goes to hot and shut off" so either the thermostat is stuck closed, or the water pump is bad.

You're just going to have to have the car towed to a good repair shop to get quotes, then subtract that cost from the estimated value of the car. We can't determine that based on info provided. Try going to KBB.com or Cars.com to determine the cars value.

Good luck, you may end up with a good deal.
