  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

AC started blowing hot air

Got a call from the dealer and parts are in. Dropped the car off last night and should have it back today or tomorrow.

Even though the compressor was back ordered, he got one. When I asked about it, he said they put a E code on it, basically Emergency code, and so was able to get it in quick.

So far, I have no issues with Hyundai and their warrenties.

UPDATE:

Got a call from the dealer this morning. He said that there is a new TSB that says to replace the cluthc fan for the non cooling issue. SO they are keeping the car another day as they should get the clutch fan in the morning. If that dosen't fix it, at least they have the compressor in hand.

I think the fan is electric. There is no fan attached to the engine drive belt, at least not on the 4.6. So was it the drive clutch on the compressor or what?

Gee thanks. ;)

Found this in a goole search. Probably teh same or similar stuff. Not sure if I would DIY it or not as the system is already charged. Wonder if they remove some of the original 134a and add this stuff.

"Arctic Blast" has a vid on You Tube. Just enter that product name in the search box there. The product is obviously an unknown. I certainly wouldn't want to be among the first thousand customers to try it.

Sorry for the confusion. Thought it was clear.

But yes, the cluth on the A/C compressor. They got a complete compressor assembly in when they got the TSB about the clutch. Since they would not get reimbursed for the compressor, they ordered a new clutch assembly. being a good dealer, they did a little more research, found that the clutch they ordered was the same as on the replacement compressor they had. So they pulled that one off and installed it on my car to get me back on the road sooner. They said that when the replacement clutch came in, they would just install it on the replacement compressor and then return it.

Sounds like a good way to keep your customer happy.

PMC, I saw the video before I found the product. Seems fairly simple. But I also read some of the comments where some people had some issues with the gage. So not sure if I would want to DIY it and risk overcharging the system which would make it inopperative. I think you would need to properley remove some or all of the old R134a and then add in this stuff. So that's why I'm thinking to let the dealer do it. That way, if something does screw up, it should be covered under warrenty.

Crusty do you have any information on the service bulletin you can share. My 2012 4.6 has had the same problem intermittently for over a year but the dealer is unable to duplicate the problem. With the air in auto suddenly cold air stops blowing out the upper vents and very hot air starts blowing out the heater vents. It is random and may last 15 minutes. I have found that if I turn the temp to the lowest setting the A/C starts to work again but the cabin gets to cold very quickly. If I move the temp up even 1 degree the heat comes back on. The problem now occurs daily.

Sorry but I don't The dealer should have it though. Does sound like a compressor or clutch issue. May be electrical in the clutch.

A few weeks ago my A/C compressor started making noise like a kitchen sink garbage disposer with glass in it. Inspection revealed that the pulley was spinning but not engaging the hub of the compressor. So the dealer agrees it is the compressor and will be replacing it on Tuesday. Symptoms pre-dating this were intermittent no cold air, solved by cycling AC on and off a few times until it started to work. FWIW I have seen an improvement in gas mileage with the compressor off line.

2012 5.0 NRS White/Cashmere

The Hyundai dealer replaced, under warranty, the compressor. A/C works great now, much colder than before any other problems became evident. Should not have waited so long.

This happened a few times to me too, where just hot air blows out when I start the car and it happens for like 10 mins or so. I'm going to bring it in next time for them to check it. At first I thought it was the Florida heat but it even happened at night time before.

I don't get my maps updated. Dealer wants $400 to update the maps, which is the sorriest GPS I've ever used. I'll not pay that much to update. My Garmin sits in the screen area of the Genesis just fine! By the way, it hasn't acted up in almost a year now, whatever that tells us!
