If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Beyond the emotional notion that my first new-new car ever has been violated after only 6 months, I'm glad the damage wasn't worse.

I noticed the other accident thread from Aaydemi, with the rear bumper getting punctured, but didn't see a running accident thread per se.

Long story short- I see a woman in a Chevy HHR looking exactly the WRONG way for traffic on a 4 lane divided boulevard and begin to slow way down. I see her inch out, put the binders on hard, and she hit my front right wheel. The damage was almost perfectly isolated to the wheel itself and front bumper/fascia.

THANKFULLY, the Genny is a RWD car!! :)

Being repaired now, the other driver fell on the sword and they're taking full responsibility.

On another note, I have a new Chrysler 300 as the rental car and, while it would seem as if Chrysler has done a decent job improving the product and put more bells and whistles into it, the car drives like an M1A1 Abrams tank compared to the Genesis. I do like the seats a little more though--firmer, wider.

But damn, I was so pissed.

I notice you're in Houston too...there must be something about the drivers not paying attention out here. Sorry to hear about your accident. BTW, how'd you get her insurance to work so quickly? It's been 3 agonizing days and I'm still waiting for them to "get in contact with" the other driver. Which body shop are you using?

Yeah, in Atascocita/Humble area....my accident happened on Timber Forest near Atascocita Rd...

Anyhow, my accident happened on a Friday evening (one week from last Friday) and on Monday AM I was engaged with her insurance company (State Farm). They had an adjuster out on Thursday, so it was almost a full week. I rented a car right away through my insurance company so I'd have wheels, but they've moved that claim over to them.

They were pretty responsive since it was one of their insureds that was at fault. And my own agent has helped guide me through too as evidently I'm due some compensation for devaluation of a new car (news to me since I'd never HAD a new car)....so props to my Met Life gal for that.

At the time of my accident, wreckers started circling like vultures (you know how it goes in Houston!) and since my car wasn't driveable, I instantly called my Hyundai dealership. Fortunately, I got my sales guy, who's a straight shooter, and asked him for a recommendation on a body shop. He told me about Phil Baumann in Humble. Also, I got lucky because the outfit that wanted to tow me away (also a body shop) had a horrible reputation so I'm grateful for that right away. But Humble Hyundai sends a good amount of business to Baumann, they've worked on Genesii before. And they've been wonderfully communicative also I must say.

Sorry to hear about your Genesis. What is the estimate for the damage? I'd guess by looking at it that it would be ~2500.

I had a minor mishap pulling out of the driveway last week. Accident occurred on 10/20, dropped it off at the Progressive Service Center on 10/21, and car was done by 10/26. I'm very happy with the quick turnaround of Progressive.

That's what I was kind of thinking when I had my accident, but maybe more like $3,000 to $4,000. I was wrong. Was almost $14,000 and the damage didn't look too bad, but it's a luxury car with expensive components. $1,000 a headlight with tech, but that's not bad since my body shop said they repaired an Audi that cost over $2,000 for a headlight:eek:

Hope it's not much.

My estimate for repairs is running $2600 per the shop.

The wheel itself is being redone, but they're replace if I'm not happy with it or if it's not up to par. But I got *very* lucky with the precise point where she hit me. Had it been just a few inches more fore, the damage would have been far more costly I think.

Should be ready Friday, so we'll see!

Good to hear:) Hopefully you'll be driving it again by the weekend. The body shop had mine for a month. I almost passed out from Genesis withdrawl:D Almost 3 years later and I still love every minute in the car.

Ouch that hurts to look at. Hopefully you are back in your Genesis soon! I drove a new 300, and agree it drives much more solid, but unlike you, I hated the seats. My back was stiff after 30 minutes in it.

Got my baby back...thankfully! They needed extra time to get the alignment right.

However, I noticed Sat AM that I'm getting a throaty low frequency noise when accelerating. Sounds like something in the exhaust system but farther up, more forward. the car sounds like a muscle car...something's wrong, but I don't know if it's related to the accident or not. I'm going to check it out with the dealer, but the Genesis normally accelerates quietly and powerfully--this gutteral growl is not enjoyable.

Any ideas/thoughts?

If it didn't make that noise before it's accident related. Take it back to the shop or to the dealer.

Am I the only one whom has never heard the wood sullied? I guess it means wrecked.

Not normally used as "wrecked" but as "dirty or tarnished" as in a “tarnished reputation”. However, you have to remember that on this forum, many members do not consider their cars to be inanimate objects (they are like family, or at least the status of a beloved pet).

I was going to use the word "besmirched" in lieu of "sullied" at first, haha...

I'll take it back in...just seems strange that it would be a result of the impact, but it's certainly noticeable.

The hit to your right front could easily damage an exhaust seal or cat.
