  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2012 with the technology package and honestly I really like the factory Lexicon system (by far the best factory system I have had yet), but sometimes I really miss having deep bass as most of my cars have always had at least a single 12 inch installed. I have a buddy that has always installed and tuned my systems for me so install shouldn't be much of an issue. My question is mainly what would I need to do in order to add a single 12 and amp to the factory system to extend the bass capabilities? Also, I have always went with Kicker CVR's or similar in the past, but I don't want to completely drown out everything with bass, didn't know if anybody had any recommendations as to decent subs that won't be too overkill for the factory speakers. Any advice and/or input would be appreciated.

I believe many people have done this by simply splicing into the factory sub wires and run a high level signal to the additional subwoofer amplifier. The battery being in the trunk makes the power situation quite easy. I have also read that the stock sub amplifier sends a very healthy (even maybe down to 20hz) signal so taping into this signal from the stock sub is a great option.
The Genesis is quite sealed up so I would say a nice 10 or 12inch sub would be plenty to add the needed thump to the stock system. Much more than that and you would simply have to keep it turned way down

I have a 2011 Genesis Prada. I added 2 kicker comp r's in a dual ported box powered by a RF amp amd it sounds absolutely amazing. The lexicon 17 speaker system is more than adequate for my mids and highs. Definitely a great addition...cheers.
