  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm buying a 2015 3.8 Ultimate with 5k miles for 41,000 tomorrow. sticker is 52,800. I know I'm taking a risk with buying a car with miles instead of brand new, but the 11,000 savings is too good to pass up (I think....)

As always, the dealer is trying to sell me additional warranties, specifically on the following:

Windows, windshield for $299. Says the Genesis windshield is like $1,800. Is that right, and if so would you recommend the insurance?

Extension of current BtB of 5 years, 60,000 miles. Not sure how much this one costs, but based on buying a demo, is this something I should consider? I put on about 30,000 miles per year

Extending the technology warranty. According to the dealer, I only have 36 month warranty on the nav, screens and that stuff. Is that true, and should I look at this?

I have looked at every car in the segment, and I think the Genesis is THE best car you can buy that isn't a traditional luxury nameplate and I am very excited to get it.

I'm finalizing the deal tomorrow morning, so ANY help is really appreciated.

thank you

They pushed the "add-ons" at me very hard at closing.

And got angry when I wouldn't sign - obviously the party was getting a cut of the action.

Just make sure you are getting a new car warranty.

And, of course, they told you that a new windshield is covered by the comprehensive portion of your insurance?

The warranty on the audio/video/nav is only 36 months or 36K miles, at least until 2016 models are available.

The windshields on 2009-2014 models were very expensive, but not $1800. Not sure I have seen 2015 prices posted in this forum. Contact your insurance agent about coverage on that, since you need insurance and not a warranty.

There are many threads about the Hyundai Platinum factory extended warranty (don't buy a warranty that is only good at your dealer). You do not have to decide right away and it can be purchased from any Hyundai dealer on the phone. There are recommendations of dealers who will sell the extended warranty for about $1500 (not sure the exact amount for a 2015, but were going for about $1300 on 2009-2014 models).

It is not clear to me if a demo includes the Hyundai 10 year - 100K drivetrain warranty that is only given to original owners (unless the used car is sold as CPO).

Visit the Hyundai website to read the information and fine print about their warranty.
