  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Bought the Genny a few weeks ago and I'm looking to remove the dealer's logo from the trunk (opposite of the "Genesis" logo). It is not the traditional plastic emblem for the dealer, but sticky-type lettering. Any suggestions on how to remove it safely, without scratching the paint?

Use a good hair dryer and heat up the lettering then remove using your finger nails or soft plastic edge so not to scratch the paint.

I just picked at the corner with my finger nail, got it raised up a bit, grabbed the raised up corner between thumb and finger and peeled it off. No adhesive stayed on the paint.

The above may work for you or not, but it worked for me.

I put the sticker on the garage door (inside) where the coupe sits when not out in the sun/fun.

I have found many threads and videos on how to remove the lazy H or rebadging, but have not seen anything on removing the dealer's logo that isn't a hard plastic (like the Genesis name) logo. But thanks.

Sorry. my mistake. I didn't read your post carefully.

I have not seen any posts about how to remove a dealer "decal" logo. I would ask your dealer. If you want to try it yourself, Goo-Gone might work (probably will need several applicatons). However, there is no warranty of any kind for my advise on this, and I am not responsible for any damage to your car. But I did use Goo-Gone to clean off the tape residue after removing my Hyundai "H" logo without any damage. You can get Goo-Gone at Walmart and other stores.

Make sure you don't use the "Extreme" version of Goo-Gone, which I think is some kind of paint thinner, and might damage the paint.

BTW, I always put it in my sales contract that dealer must remove (or not install) any logos on the car. I just add that provision in handwritting and initital it, and require the sales manager to initial it. This is important advise when buying a car (along with only giving the dealer a spare set of keys for your trade-in when you take it to the dealer during negotiations). I also specify in the contract that car cannot have more than x miles (usually about 20) at delivery, unless I am dealing for a car that already has a certain number of miles on it.

Just peels right off....pretty simple. A little heat will help but be careful about getting the paint too hot
